OEM high-performance disc pads include ceramic?

I took my 2012 CTS V coupe in for an oil change yesterday. The mileage is just over 29,000. I was advised my disc pads were almost metal to metal. My service representative knew I was going to a driving school this Saturday and told me I ran the risk of damaging the rotors which are a very expensive item. Therefore, I had to have the disc brakes replaced at the dealership.
I was given two options. The high-performance option (which he said had some ceramic in them. I’m going to check the part number to determine the composition. I did not think the OEM disc pads had any ceramic.) had a $100 discount per axle but still the cost was $875. Generic pads would’ve ran $475. Obviously, I went with the high-performance option.

I did not think the OEM disc pads contained any ceramic. Am I wrong?

    Thanks so much.

    Jim

    What Jim said.

The official OEM pads have no ceramic in them and there is no "high performance" option. And $875? For what?

    Next time, say "no".

Can we know the name of the dealer that sold them? Stuff like this needs to be brought to light.

If they were ceramic, maybe it's something like Carbotech. These pads are like $500 for all 4 wheels from LPE http://www.lingenfelter.com/mm5/merc...gory_Code=C450

So, figure Caddy charges $600 for them. And 2 hours labor to install is probably the book time, and some doodads, maybe they bled them, etc... = $875.

I see how they got to $875 IF he got a true hi-po ceramic pad... Fleeced would be $875 for stock pads or slightly better Hawk pads...

    Thompson McConnell Cadillac in Cincinnati.

    Part # front kit 25940447 $450 (http://www.gmpartsgiant.com/parts/gm...25940447.html= $450-its price $246.94)
    Part# rear kit 89047744 $146(http://www.gmpartsgiant.com/parts/gm-pad-kit-89047744.html=$146-its price $80.12)

    Labor $278

And remember I was told I got $100 off per axle. I just called service rep. Labor was $513 which was discounted to $278. Labor is $107 per hour.

    Thanks.

    haha.

Yeah, if I can do all 4 brakes in 30 minutes, in my garage, without a lift, a Cadillac tech should have those done in much less. Charging an hour would be a MAXIMUM...
