    Unhappy Evaporator replacement

My mechanic diagnosed my Freon leakage to be the evaporator core. He used a device that beeps faster when it detects Freon mixed with air coming from the vents inside the car.
Labor is $700 as he needs to remove the whole dash to replace it. Is there any other way to fix this using A?C stop leak of some kind or i just need to shell $1K for labor and parts?

    Thank you

Sorry but No . When they build cars and most trucks the heat /AC goes in then they build he car around it . I have changed hundreds of heater cores and evap.s in the 30 plus years in the auto business and there is no magic fix . You can try stop leak but I never ever had any luck .
