Some one said it was at the NY auto show. The new CTS roof was lower by design.

So not a V. Maybe a Vsport. The V coupe has a much lower roof than the wagon btw. Noticed when I was at the dealership the other day.

The 2014 CTS (including Vsport) has 0.4" more front head room and 0.3" more rear head room than the outgoing CTS-V -- 39.2/37.5 vs 38.8/37.2.

I hope that's accurate. You never know how wonky those official measurements are when you try to apply them to the real world. Although, usually it's the contrived leg room measurement that is so off.

With all the noise made about CTS 2.0 being a tweener and CTS 3.0 being a legit 5/A6/E competitor, it's surprising how little difference there is in all the measurements.

My guess is there is a ratio/calculation of required dimensions (both internal and external) that take in to account the average height/weight/girth of middle-aged adults, relative to wheelbase, aerodynamics, vehicle mass, Federal regulations for the US market and other factors.

In a sense, that's also why so many vehicles today "look" the same from the front: aerodynamic considerations (and federal impact regulations) really limit what you can do to a car while keeping certain variables within a desired range.
