    Amazing V wagon

Ordered a 2013 Vwagon. Picked it up May 15th with a full tank of BP 93 octane. To date have driven 198 miles, 40% highway (65mph) and 60% in town.

Put gas in today when gauge showed half full. Took 8.4 gals, made sure to keep adding till it would not take any more. Went home and did the math, 198miles divided by 8.4 and WOW I was getting 23 MPG.

HAPPY? well I certainly am. Of course I do not jack-rabbit at lights and try to back off the throttle when I can.

This is not a war story!

congrats on the wagon I assume you're driving it gently due to break in and will soon start enjoying the power / performance like you're supposed to?

Yeah I don't think I've ever gotten 23 mpg across half a tank. Maybe if I were going downhill the whole time...

    Re: Amazing V wagon

I average 16.1mpg - but I drive mostly in-town (35-50mph zones) with a LOT of stoplights. I also do get on it frequently because... well, that's why I bought it.

However, for the way I drive the car, I feel 16+ average mpg's is pretty good.

For reverence, my wife has the 3.6L CTS base wagon, and her average mpg is only 17.6; and she has more interstate trips (and a much less aggressive driving style) than I do.

IMHO, the CTSV is definitely a 5-door winner.

Take an average of a whole tank after you hit "E" or the reserve light and see what you get.

Really?? I'm driving about 90% city and averaging 9.1 (ouch) according to the trip computer. Lots of hills, but still, my fuel economy seems atrocious, and I'm not driving it that hard.

How many miles on the car - could there be a need for maintenance (like air filter), or extra cargo in the back? Any tunes or power modifications?

I averaged 12mph for about a week when I drove the car off the lot, but it's trended up for whatever reason.

Must be nice living in a city that only has down hills, and alway has a tail wind.

I'm averaging 16 lately but I'm in New Mexico 4000 + altitude. In Louisiana I averaged 12 for in town driving. On the highway I get 21.
