    Previous Exhaust Cutouts?

Does this look like the previous owner had exhaust cutouts on the car and then removed and patched the exhaust?

If so, would this make it easier or harder to install cutouts? I am interested in putting some on.

If not, why does the exhaust look like this?

Sorry. It's a bit hard to make out.

    Re: Previous Exhaust Cutouts?

It looks like there is a clamp there where someone cut the original exhaust and placed a Corsa axleback exhaust, then replaced that with the original exhaust at the time of trade/sale. I know this, having done this to my 09 V while I had it. The stock exhaust is one solid piece from the cats back.

No exhaust cutouts there from the looks of it. From my feeble understanding of exhausts, you should have no trouble placing cutouts in your exhaust.

The photo is poor quality, but I do not think there was an axle back exhaust installed, the pipes are solid all the way except for the two lighter spots that look to me like patches over previous oval shaped cutouts.

I will post a better picture when I can.

I think those are heat shield patches. I'm at work right now, but I have my OEM exhaust hanging on the wall of my garage and I recall seeing those same exact patches.

Makes sense to me. I've got my stock exhaust in my garage as well and I'll take a look when I get home in less than an hour.

    Re: Previous Exhaust Cutouts?

I looked at my stock exhaust when I got home last night. That area indeed is a patch that is stock from the factory. I have pictures but can't upload them due to being busy at work.
