    Radar Detector mount

I always hated the look of a detector stuck to the windshield so I made a mount that mounts over the gauge cluster without having to mare the dash in any way.

I first sheared out a 2"X10" piece of 16 gauge stainless and broke it up so that it won't touch any of the cluster visor.

I slightly rounded the end that slides in between the speedometer housing and main cluster visor.

Next I covered the top of the mount with 2" wide Velcro then coated the rest of the mount with Plasti-Dip

It puts the info window of the detector right above the wheel where to can see it at a glance.

Why not just use the blend mount bracket attached to your rear view mirror, much easier?

I made it out of leftover stock I had in the shop so it didn't cost me anything, it firmly slides on and off in a second without any knobs or clamps, no wires hanging down...it doesn't get much easier than that.

Ok, but where's the power wire?

Right now it runs along the steering column and into the power outlet, I bought a straight power cord (not coiled) and plan to run it behind the bezels and tie it into the back of the power receptacle, then when not in use it will tuck neatly above the speedometer bezel.

Won't your dash show where the bracket was with the natural fading of the sun?

Best mount that I have seen thus far is a guy on YouTube using his GoPro mounts. They're cheap, flexible enough for all sorts of applications and you can still move the radar or remove it easily. For $20, you can make it fit any car or truck.
