Hood Insulation Retainer Fell into Engine Bay

    So,

Guy was installing something on my car and when he went to stick these back in he dropped one inside the engine bay

They're pretty decently large and it fell to the bottom so we were unable to get to it. Ok to leave in there and just buy a new one or can it actually cause damage?
He removed some of the bottom guard to try and get it out but pushed it in somewhere can't see it anymore. It was just taking too long...

can you use a reaching tool to try to get to it?

depending where it is, it certainly COULD cause damage, possibly a fire if it contacts exhaust component, or mechanical problem if it buggers up a belt, alternator, etc...or chafe a hole in a hose or wire.....

Yeah, probably unlikely but possible nonetheless. What about the hood liner? Is that hanging down?

Naw, head liner isn't sagging at all since it was only 1 retainer. Basically it fell in front of the engine block on the left side. And When trying to reach it he may have pushed it more center in the bottom.

I'd get it out. I'm pretty OCD about stuff like that...

Flashlight, mirror, bent coat hanger, flexible grabby tool, banging on the bottom of the plastic cover to hear it rattling or bounce it out. Yeah, it'll likely fall out on it's own, or stay put and never cause a problem. I know Murphy all too well though. He likes to screw with me whenever he can, and I try and keep him out of my car...
