    Supercharger replacement

For those of you who had your blower replaced under warranty because of excess knocking/rattling, how much headache was it to get GM to replace it? Seems as though my tech recommended it but ran into "it's normal" bureaucracy from management. What did you do?

Mine was replaced no problem, I had to wait a week for it to come in but that was in 09. I had 2k on the car at the time now 15k no problem.

    Re: Supercharger replacement

I had the rattling and also a bad supercharger whine at idle / low RPM when the engine was cold... I didn't have any issues getting it replaced. It took 5 days to arrive at the dealer, and they had it installed in an afternoon (plus I got the free loaner!)

    Re: Supercharger replacement

I have a lot of rattle at idle. I thought it was just a worn isolator.

The car was just GM certified a month ago so i thought it was normal.

I think there is a tolerable level of "normal" but this sounds like bearings gone bad and it's gotten worse since I've bought it. We shall see. Keeping fingers crossed.

    Re: Supercharger replacement

^^^ - The rattle from my V's isolator used to be quite loud when the car was new, but has lessened a lot since then. Now it's nearly inaudible, even when standing near the front of the car. Sounds like something else may be going on with your copy. Might be worth having it checked out ... !?

Yeah, it's at the dealer as we speak. Has been for a week. The issue seems to be getting management on the same page as the tech who wanted to replace it but was shot down. More to come.

Per the writer, currently a call into their GM contact to address it. Here's hoping.

    Re: Supercharger replacement

^^^ - Yeah, if it's a bearing or something they'll have to replace the blower. Probably means a bit of red tape, etc. ...

So apparently the dealership has spoken with GM and all they will do is give me a component letter extending the factory power train warranty on the blower and rear diff another year. Whatever. Why does it have to be so hard? Some people get new parts just like that and others don't. There's no uniformity in the process. Anyone have any advice? This kind of crap just fries my ass.

Sounds like typical GM to me.

No question. I guess what I'm most irritated about is how some cases slide through like they've been greased and others get hung up in the bureaucratic B.S. that is the manufacturer.
