Dealers screwing my friend over... Engine swap needed 2010 CTS 3.6 wagon.

I was given the task to change out the motor in my friends 2010 CTS wagon and have a few questions.
1: Will one out of a 2010 Saturn outlook work?
2: What unexpected parts or problems will I encounter?
3: Does the ECU computer need to be reprogrammed after the swap.
I guess that pretty much covers it. I'm used to swapping motors but the CTS is new to me. Last gm motor i swapped was a 2000 GMC safari van.
The caddi has only 40k on the odometer and apparently it has a "stretched timing chain" due to improper oil change service intervals! Dealer says its his fault and will not warranty the motor.
    Thanks for your help.

Whats the big deal with just replacing the timing chain? It'd be a hell of a lot cheaper than a motor swap.

Try a different dealer, and get with one of the customer assistance specialists on this site. Keep in mind the Outlook is set up for front wheel drive, the CTS for rear. There were a bunch of different issues with the timing chains on the 3.6 motor. Keep at it until GM fixes it under warranty as it should be. I know of reports getting stretched timing chains in under 20000 miles, I belive there was something wrong with a batch of chains or GM's oil change algorythm was bad either way GM should be fixing it.

This is a CTS-V-only forum. There is a separate forum for the regular CTS.

Come on over to the poor boys' CTS forum. By the way, I am under the impression that the timing chain problem is limited to earlier engines, not 2010. I think your dealer is not doing the right thing. Unless your buddy never changed his oil, that is, or something else stupid that would cause the dealer to say what he said.
