    Texas Mile Record Breaking CTSV's

Congrats to Steve and Joey for the record runs in their 21st Century Muscle Cars prepared
CTSV's this past weekend at The Texas Mile, both of the cars still have the stock 6.2L motor
with the stock 1.9L supercharger and neither car has nitrous oxide.

The CTSV Sedan w. the auto transmission ran a blistering 192.6 on Friday and
backed it up with another 192.1 run on Saturday. Joey's recently completed CTSV Coupe w. manual
transmission ran a 191.3 on Friday that would have been the record if not surpassed by the CTSV Sedan of Steve's
with the record breaking run of 192.6

Great numbers. Congrats to all involved. Looks like a great time. Will these cars also be at the TX2K13?

Congrats guys. Do you have to have a roll cage to go this fast or at what point do you?

Thanks John! Can't say enough good things about you, Matt, and all at 21CMC!

    I ran very consistently with one exception and it was my own fault...185.4, 192.6, 191.4, 189.5, 192.1,186.0, 188.4, 189.3

The first run I was too heavy on the launch and the 186.0 was my mistake.

    ----------

Josh...yes, at 190mph a roll cage is required.
    NAX-121 and NAX-121 like this.

Just wondering how the automatic V went 190+? Im assuming different gears cause its supposed to only go 175 due to gearing right?

Good info. I'm sure it's been discussed somewhere here but do you know what a completely stock manual trans CTS-V averages in the standing mile?

That is in 5th gear though. If 6th gear is used, there's plenty of gear for 215+, maybe 220.

I would like to know if any modifications or enhancements to the transmission were undertaken for the use of 6th gear at those high speeds. I still don't know exactly why the stock automatic CTS-V is limited to 174, other than that is the top of 5th gear.

I think that the auto is speed limited to 174? for transmission reasons. Considering mine would barely top 165 in the Nebraska Sandhills, 190+ is indeed healthy. We were at about 3000 feet up though too.

Limits are based on the speed in the tune. No gear or tranny mods, completely stock except for the tune. Even reaching 190+ the car still had strong pull in it. Stay tuned for March when I and others go for 200 in the next Texas Mile!

    Great job!

LOL - the poor manual guys can no longer say that the manual is faster... The A6 has proven to be quickest and fastest in the right person hands!

My car is tuned. Does that mean my automatic V will go above 175 mph or does that depend on what my tuner did regarding the speed in the tune? Car shifts a lot harder and redline was extended.

You may want to touch base with your tuner - my tuner made the adjustments and I know for certain my car does over 190mph...

Thanks. To be more specific, what do you think a completely stock manual car with the limiter turned off may reach as an average?

I understand the speed limiter to be on autos only, not six speed manual trans cars.
