    Good deal?

    They paid 54,200.

$7,000 gross on a used car that they buy at auction and flip. I talked to them about that car, but wasn't willing to pay anywhere near their asking.

Ah, any reason why they paid so low for a a low mileage 2012? Based on the previous posting from fleet, it seemed like those were going in the 60's

I do a lot of research, but the provenance of some of these cars is mysterious. A number of ultra-low mileage cars go to auction straight from the manufacturer every year. If I recall, that particular car appears to have sat at a Tennessee dealer for about 6 months after PDI, THEN it went back to GM who auctioned it off as a manufacturer car. That's why 6 months of the warranty is burned.

I know sometimes cars get damaged in transit or at the factory and GM will auction them as used after they are repaired.

Ah, bummer. Because on paper it looked like a good deal. I think they mentioned it was an executive Demo car. I based the price they might have paid for it on the auctions I saw here. Well either way it's gone. It seems pretty rare to find any black used ones up. I'm starting to consider the red 2011 ones listed at the moment and installing the black satin rims on later, but I'm still thinking 54k is too high for those despite the lowish miles.

Hard to get a totally perfect used car, I find.

The two in Minny are both pre-production unites, with an in-service date of oct 2010. Barely two years of warranty left, and likely used as test drivers for journalists.

ah yer right. I'd be nervous about journalist cars for sure
I guess patience is the game here. I've got my financing secured for 90 days so I got time to look.

out of curiosity, wondering why anyone knows these GM Mfr cars that get auctioned off aren't ever sold as certified preowned vehicles at dealer lots? Is that something that the dealer pays extra to stick onto the vehicle or something that not all vehicles pass?

I have seen a couple that are. Maybe the dealership doesn't think it's worth it, for the ultra-low mileage cars.

Ah, so it is something the dealership pays for?

Well, they would pay for it, and then try to recover their costs in the sale.

Been searching inventory around and it looks like it is pretty difficult to find one without the sunroof. After checking out the sunroof covering at the dealership, I decided it's something I didn't want due to the mesh nature of the cover.

Pricing hasn't softened through the late summer nearly as much as I had hoped.
