Question about Android and the audio system

I'll be picking up my new V tomorrow and I was wondering if my Android phone will be compatible with the audio system.

I know I can plug in the 3.5mm jack, but I'd prefer to control everything through the head unit like an iPod.

Is it possible to stream music via Bluetooth?

Is it possible to upload music from an Android onto the the hard drive? Or just to play music from the Android through the head unit?

I did a search but found some conflicting info. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Question about Android and the audio system

My Droid experience with a 2011 CTS/V Coupe:

I plugged my Bionic into the USB port and the radio informed me that device not recognized

I was able to use a memory stick in the USB to download music to the hard drive

I didn't try the aux jack to the Droid.

And that, is why Apple stock has gone from 200 to 550 in two years...

No joy on any integrated control with Android. Only the iPhone plays. You are stuck with 3.5mm aux jack only - you can't even charge via USB.

I'm surprised no one in the aftermarket messes with this, sort of like engine tuning. Tons of places all over do that, how is it that no one does Infotainment system "tuning"?

    Hi Easy33,

Hope you're enjoying your new V! If you still have questions, please let me know. If you get the chance, would you mind also letting me know where you received conflicting information?

Big Jim - none of my Android phones have ever connected (all said unrecognized device) to allow streamign content such as Pandora or Slacker radio via the USB. tWiuth some devices you may be abel to put the phone into "storage mode" and the GM head unit wil lread the phone like a USB strage device - but still no real time streaming. The EVO and some Android models may charge - that list is getting longer with new hardware releases.

I take it that you have a Sprint EVO 4G?

Or are you grandfathered in on Verizon 4G? Obviously you don't have ATT, the bums!
