I have 5600 miles on my CTS-V Coupe and have never had skip shift engage. Looking at the criteria I think it is because I never shift below 2K RPM.

I purchased the CTS V Coupe from the first week of production in August 2010.
My recent experience of the Transmission Lock-up over two days apparently related to a Skip-Shift engagement would have been the second and third activations. I now have 7200 miles within 16 months of ownership.

Most definitely will. CAGS is part of the emission group now.

I'm sorry to be such a blatant noob, but what does the Skip-Shift feature do exactly?

guides you from 1st gear directly to 4th gear on manual transmission cars when engine speed, temperature and throttle are all in a certain window.

...in order to maintain a lower RPM/to/Gear Ratio for better city driving economy.
Once the Manual Transmission is into 4th Gear, the Skip-Shift interlock clears tol allow down-shifting, should the driver so choose.

I am a newbie here - barely over 200 miles on my CTS-V wagon. I had a 2006 GTO where the skip shift was very intrusive and I installed the skip shift eliminator to get rid of it. I've been driving my wagon pretty gently and haven't had it engage. It was a real PITA in the GTO.

I have a 2011 Sedan with M6 and I have never had skip shift kick in. I am stock. With the V1 you can get a tune from a shop or have a DIY project, I have not seen a V2 specific harness. If skip shift even exists on the v2, it's like bigfoot for me.

    Oh... it's there all right.

    9-34 Driving and Operating
    Skip Shift (CTS￿V)
    Under light acceleration, the
transmission will only allow you to
shift from 1 (First) to 4 (Fourth).
Shifts from 1 (First) to 2 (Second) or
3 (Third) are not allowed. This helps
    improve fuel mileage.
    Under harder acceleration,
Skip Shift is disabled, and the
    driver has all gears available.

    Best regards,

    Elie

Not making anything up, just reporting my findings.

Re: 2012 CTS-V Coupe Skip Shift Eliminator

    Facts are best referenced;
    2011 Cadillac CTS/CTS-V Owner Manual (Page 294 of 492)
9-32 Driving and Operating Shift Speeds (Manual Transmission) Skip Shift (CTS‐V)

Under light acceleration, the transmission will only allow you to shift from 1 (First) to 4 (Fourth).
Shifts from 1 (First) to 2 (Second) or3 (Third) are not allowed. This helps
    improve fuel mileage.

After having verified by looking at the Service Manual for my 2011 CTS-V and the Service Manual for my 2007 Corvette, a skip shift eliminator kit for a C6 Corvette will work on the V. The skip-shift connector is same part for both cars and uses the same OEM part number.

Excellent information. I want it badly. From where do I obtain this Eliminator device. Can I get the one on the Corvette gadget store, or is there a Cadi-specific resource?
    Thank you.
