Any chance on removing the white discolored residue on the door frame window surround

I have exhausted almost every detailers tip i can find including lacquer thinner, brushes, cleaners and nothing works.

I had my car detailed and they compounded without taping off the trim and now it looks horrible. all blotchy white areas on the black door surrounds. I had the same issue on my gray plastic on the bumpers but i removed them and had them painted satin black yesterday and they look great.

I took a closer look and the window trim appears to be a satin smooth texture vinyl wrap where as other cars its a removable plastic or metal trim piece.

Anyone battle this issue with their cars?

I bet Adams VRT would work.

It's definitall some kind of wrap.. It's pretty obvious on my car since it has a tear at the bottom. I second a vinyl or rubber cleaner. VRT is very good.

I'm not sure what area your talking about as my V is still not delivered, but if it's plastic/rubber/vinyl or even flat type paint, try Mothers Back to Black. I use it on all the trim, on both motorcycles and cars, works great...

It does work, but the VRT is a superior product if I had to choose between the two IMO. The VRT goes on better, isn't a PIT to remove from paint, lasts longer, and darkens/cleans better.
Difference being of course, you can pick Mothers off the shelf at walmart for $5-7, and the VRT is $24.99 + shipping online.

I have black to back in the garage. I use griots wax remover then the mothers back to black when I got some polish on the gray fog light area.

I read somewhere that Soft Scrub (w/o bleach) does a good job of removing wax from plastic pieces. Never tried it though.

Try these products it has worked for me in certain situations. If it does not work, the product can be used at other times and is not a waste of $.
