    Supercharger POOF

So...after getting that weird bearing noise i decided to remove my supercharger to check it out and send it in for a bearing replacement. Well I found more than I wanted to. A nice crack down the middle. Looks like I may need a blower upgrade so car will be out for a while. Check it out. Flame on!

    Sounds it was making:http://youtu.be/6Fu6eITTxM0

    Damage I saw:

By the way, 30K miles and my mods are 9.55 pulley, Intake, tune (done at 25K miles). So that's why I didn't bother taking it to the dealer. Its 2.5 hours away drive just for them to tell me no.

Wow, that sucks. 5K into the boost and it just split on you. How much boost were you pushing with your mods ?

It looks like it is on the opposite side of where the pulley is located, correct?

Let me know if you are interested in buying my blower. My car has under 4k miles on it. Btw sorry for your issues but you just might help push me into a TT build.

12.4 PSI boost. Crack is on the inside right after the snout on the actual core not the lid. those little numbers would be closest to you if you stood in front of the car.

WOW. That was a LOUD noise. I'd be mortified to hear that from my engine compartment. Be glad you discovered that crack before you lost the engine.....

Is it possible that the crack developed when the pulley was "pressed" ? and didnt open up and allow depressurization until after the few thousand miles

Horrible sound...I would do an oil analysis to be sure that you were not feeding metal filings into the engine...hope that is not the case.

The pulley was not pressed as this was the lower pulley upgrade.

How big/deep is the crack? Can you get your fingernail into it?

    Re: Supercharger POOF

Ill check when I get home but it seemed like I could fit my nail in there. Also, Im sure the noise I was experiencing was related to it so the Blower must have been affected by it.
