Please help A/c belt, aftermarket number????

Believe it or not the dealerships do not stock a belt for the a/c for the V. Go figure. Anyone know of the alternative belt (aftermarket-gates, goodyear etc) PLEASE HELP if you have any info it would be much appreciated. I matched up a Goodyear 4040372 (or 4pk0945) but not sure if this is equivalent??? Thanks

Re: Please help A/c belt, aftermarket number????

That 4PK0945 crosses over to the following:

    Gates: K040372

    Dayco: 5040373

    Goodyear: 4040372 (like you stated)

Is it safe to assume that you got 4PK0945 off the factory belt, if so the above numbers are good to go!!!!

Did you cut the belt to get if off? If so, get a tape measure and figure out what the total length is. We already know it's a 4 rib so now we gotta figure the total length.

Yes I cut it off, it measures 95.5 cm from what I can gather. Thanks for the assistance!

Re: Please help A/c belt, aftermarket number????

    O.K, 95.5 cm = 37.598 inches (thank you Google).

Dayco has # 5040375 with an overall length of 37.55 so maybe you can talk dirty to it while you try slipping it on.

Gates has # K040374SF The SF stands for "stretch fit" for applications without a tensioner - just like this application.

I would go to your nearest auto parts store with the above numbers and have them come up with something. So basically grab a bunch of 4 rib belts in the 37.5" - 38" range from them and return the ones that don't fit.

Let us know the outcome. Have fun!

I got an old one out of the garage. It was GM 12628027 WMA 6PK2155
I could not see the # on the new Napa belt on the car. If you take the cut belt in to a store like NAPA, they will figure it out.

    Good luck.

    Curtis,

I think that's the main serpentine belt you are referring to.

We're trying to figure out the A/C compressor belt.

Thanks for the info, heading to the store now to see what I can find. I know the belt I have will not work, will post if I find a suitable replacement for any future reference. Better than ordering a belt out of the U.S. for sure!

Well dont take the number off the original belt as anything that should cross over (the 9pk0970 #) on it is wrong. From what I can gather the Dayco belt 5040375 should work fine 37.55 inches in length, factory is .01 cm or .05 inches longer than this one (37.60" or 95.5 cm's in length). Now the hassle of trying to find one around here, hopefully tomorrow! Thanks for the input!

Wait a minute now, if we take that 9PK0970 and look it up as a 4PK0970, it turns out to be a 38.2 inch belt with the part numbers as below:

    Dayco # 5040382

    Gates # K040382

    Universal generic part # 382K4

Try the above size first before you give the Dayco 5040375 a shot.

Trust me I've tried this, the 4pk 0970 belt is way longer than the oem belt (doesn't make sense to me why that number is on the oem belt) must be why there is no cross reference belt listed anywhere as well. As mentioned the belt cut length is 95.5 cm's or 37.60 inches, the dayco belt 5040375 is 37.55 inches-thats splitting hairs in my books, I will try to get this resolved today and reply back, unless someone has a belt number besides factory that theyt know is the belt to use. Thanks

I just went to slowreilieys and they pulled it up on the screen and I put it on. I have the number at home and I'll look at it when I get back to the office Monday.
