    Re: Seat Question

The base seats are not, only the Recaros.

The Recaros only.. and they are Not cooled. Just ventilated.

Its just a fan. Doesn't work too strongly, I wish they had more power.

Sometimes I wonder if it is just noise and vibration coming from the seat vs air

    Re: Seat Question

The ventilation fans must be located by a cooling duct, because the temperature notably drops on the seat way before the ambient temperature drops when you switch in the compressor. You can also feel the surface of the seat cool where the air from the vents would not reach. The ventilation/cooling effect is not as strong as it is on the base CTS seats, though. I had an '08 with the feature, so I'm pretty familiar with it's effect.

There may be a few reasons for this difference. One may be that the fan could be different, but I doubt it. Another could be that the construction of the seat may decrease the airflow. I think the most likely explanation, though, is the effect of the upholstery. I think the fabric, which partially covers the ventilation holes, actually diffuses the airflow compared to the leather of the base car. Also, the leather feels much hotter and causes more sweating than the cloth, so the perceived effect would naturally be less. The Recaro seat will NOT appear to blow cold air through your pants like my previous seat did, but it WILL cool the surface, as advertised.

    Re: Seat Question

I know I don't post very often on here, the reason being is I don't have a lot of question or answer, But I do have one now about the recaros seats, I have a 2010 v with them in it $3400 dollars more but I will be darn if I can see any fans under them seats, I see 2 square ducts pointing to the back and the one in the console and that is all I see so where are the fans if they are suppose to be vented or cool what ever you call it. Pictures would be great, If they suppose to be there and they are not I am going back to the dealer for sure.
    Thanks

    Re: Seat Question

if you listen carefully, you hear the whirring of the fans somewhere in the shoulder area of the seat. So i'm 99.99% sure thats where the air pump's located.

    Re: Seat Question

Yes, Recaro seats have ventilation fans, but no active cooling. My wife's 2008 DTS has both. That is, there are fans and solid-state cooling units mounted in the seats. Very, very effective.

Looks like 2 fans in the seatback and 2 in the seat cushion. I would highly doubt they aren't in there.
