Its actually really nice! Feels great and offers positive grip. Typically micro suede gets moist, but they seem to have figured something out for that. Again very nice in person!

    Thanks,

I wonder if it would be possible to replace that fake-suede microfiber on the steering wheel with good old hard leather. The more pictures I see, the more that steering wheel looks like it's screaming for fuzzy dice.

On the new CTSV they are using a different carrier for the rear diff. This is why you dont see the traditional rear end cover, but the large black cast mount. Its in there, they just added additional support.

    Thanks,

I love my black on black '05, but will almost certainly be selling or trading it to get one of these bad boys!
For what it's worth: I love the Suede wheel.

I think the carrier is so beefy now you cannot see the diff as well as before.

The new diff seems to have a rear, center mounted large "knuckle" supporting it. It appears to be similar to the new CTS4 style. I would think that someone on this forum has help on this.

    Re: CTS-V images from Detroit

I was in Detroit yesterday specifically to drool over the new CTS-V. I took my own pix, but they are similar to those posted here.

The Recaro sport seats look comfortable, but my "old" rear will probably opt for the regular seat. I saw, but could not touch, the suede steering wheel. While I understand the idea behind it, it would probably work out best in a garage queen; this car would likely be my DD and so a nice, traditional steering wheel cover (perforated leather?) would be great.

But other than that, the car is droolworthy. I can't wait to do a test drive next fall.

Wondering that myself. Somebody had posted a thread about the V at Detroit being listed at 72k. However, I haven't heard that from anywhere else.

There's nothing official yet, and probably won't be anything solid till sometime close to actual production of the car. Guesses range from the low 60s up to the low 70s.

Based on the information we were supplied with, the $62K amount is pretty accurate. Certainly dont think you would see it go into the $70K range in its current trim.

Yes. But the knuckle area is not as wide as that, and I looked to see if the diff looks like a transmission (like that one), but no, it appeared to be smaller and normal proportioned like ours.

I think the perspective might be throwing you off a bit here, because replace that aluminum diff with a cast iron one and you've got the V. The rear support bracket and subframe are identical.

Keep in mind that MSRP is exactly that...manufacturer's suggested retail price. I have never paid sticker or close to sticker for any car I have ever purchased in my life and don't plan to on the 2009 CTS-V. My order for a 2009 CTS-V and 2009 Escalade goes in to my Cadillac dealer in March the day GM's ordering opens up and my dealer knows that they can't charge me anything more than their invoice pricing. This has already been established.

    Maybe... I guess.
