    I worked on the EV1.

GM never had their heart in it.

Did it because Calif threatened sales with pollution requirement.

Three standing start "romp on its" and the batteries were in need of a charge.

Put out so much RF noise from the converter that it would effect the radio in the car next to you!

    HYBRIDS RULE

GM has it right with the VOLT platform.

I thought the EV1 was awesome. An actual battery powered car. Maybe it wasn't as refined as it should have been, but they should have advanced it. It was quick too!

I guess the jury is still out on those pistons. They must have some good technology to put a long term warranty on them.

Indeed sir. It was probably done to save money vs. forged internals as the hypereutectic can still be cast and deal with the additional heat and compression.

Does anyone know the % of silicon in the alloy?

Waiting on a phone call back from one of the engineers.....Dont know if we can get the composition, but we should be able to see find out how far they pushed it before she let go.

Verily. Black on black with black powder coating over the chrome. Delete sunroof if possible.

Auto or stick? Auto or stick??? Gotta drive both.

What are the odds that you'll do a little kit to cure that front bumper/air dam underbite problem?

You have to go manual, c'mon now....

I am getting an 08 Jeep SRT8 as soon as I can sell my current V. I was planning on buying a sports car of some sort (C6Z or 996tt) in a year or two to compliment the Jeep, but now another CTS-V may blur the outcome of that. Thank god Cadillac did this car justice. Can't wait to test drive one a year from now.

This is going to be a fun car to mod

Well, I'm now focusing on getting enough dough to plop down a nice down payment in late 2009/early 2010 on a '10 model. It will be tough to watch others get theirs. And now I can't wait for Detroit.

How difficult and expensive do you think it would be to spec out the V engine to match the ZR1's?

Re: No More Rumors: GM Press Release 2009 CTS-V

Actually we had a design done before the 08 CTS was revealed to the public. Now that the CTSV has finally been shown, we might throw something on the drawing board for this new application. But we will be designing a new functional aero front fascia for the new application.

    Thanks,

Well, after a long time hiatus away from the Forum, I am back! This new V has brought back feelings similar to those I felt waiting for the 1st gen. V to arrive. Reading the specs on this new V have me shaking my head in astonishment, excitement, and disbelief! I so want one!

This car is awesome! I have this completely insane number crunching scheme going on in my head as to how I can keep my current V, AND buy a new one!

Cheers fellas, this is going to be fun!

Most impressive, only unknown is how well the rear will hold up. I may be on board by 2010, but may be tough as I am not selling the '05. Congrats to those already committed, as you will have an Ubercrusher!!!

Price should be $62K base. At this price they can probably sell twice as many as they forecast; the automatic option will definitely lift sales numbers. Not sure what planned production is, but Chevy made 6,200 C6Zs in 2006 (not sure how many sold), and if marketed correctly, at a fair price, this could be a great victory for GM.

Life is good, Cadillac rules, now lets go drill in Alaska and put a muzzle on Al Gore so that more American HP is available in the future.
