Can anyone make a Carbon Fiber hood bulge cover for our cars?

I was looking at my car and thought it would look really nice to have a thin carbon fiber piece to go over the top of the factory hood bulge, but not cover the whole hood.

I would think that it would be relatively easy to get a mold made and filled with a thin layer of carbon fiber then cut out when cured and glued or permanently adhered to the factory bulge.

This would look great on a white coupe.

I thought about the vinyl approach but it just doesn't have the effect I'm looking for.

    Any thoughts???

What about a dry carbon vinyl wrap from 3m for the bulge... Unless you do a cutout you're not going to save any weight

Weapon X Motorsports has the hood, $2000.00

Weapon has a nice hood but the factory hood is just fine. I just wanted to dress it up a bit with the carbon fiber hood bulge. The 3M vinyl wrap just doesn't have the same effect as the real thing.

I think a piece of vinyl will have the same effect as a thin piece of cf glued to the hood
How would you deal with the transition line if gluing a piece of cf to the hood?

I would think that you could adhere the laminate to the hood with a very thin gap all the way around and fill that will silicone if necessary.

For all that trouble it's easier to buy the Weapon X one and paint the areas where you don't want CF to show.

There is no way to make it look clean from what you're suggesting. Don't ghetto out your V.

Consider thermal expansion and heat dissipation.

I guess I never thought about the different expansion propertied of the materials. I certainly am not looking for a cheesy look but didn't want to spend $3000 including paint and install for some carbon fiber on the hood.

Just thought this would be an interesting option with a fiberglass hood.

You could have a "cover" custom molded to the bulge, but that would cost nearly as much as buying a hood, and not look as good.
