Will 18s Clear the Gen II V Brakes?

Have Any of you guys gone from 19s to 18s? Will they clear?
The GTO guys have been doing Gen 1 brakes for a couple of years now and we are moving into Gen2 brakes with bmw/Camaro rotors, etc.
I've only found one guy who is running vmr vb3 18s and he had to do 8 mm spacer and new studs which put the tire out almost past the fender.
Wondering if another wheel will work better?
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

pS. Going from 19s to 18s for ride quality.

Great! Thanks. I will pass this along. I found out the guy who did spacers was hitting the spokes not the barrel.

Not just any 18" wheel will clear the brake caliper. The design of the spoke makes a big difference. An 18" wheel will be pretty tight. I have 18"x9.5" wheels for the track.

TSW Nurburgrings fit as do FRONT 09+ Z06 wheels. I'm sure there are others. (The ones I listed are 18x9.5 with 40mm offset)
