    Installing a cell phone cradle

I just purchased a new 2011 cts-v coupe and abslolutely love it! One minor drawback though is that since I have a motorola droid x cell (instead of an iphone), it can't be controlled through the navigation system by voice and so I need a place to mount it. I have a cradle specifically made for it, which is designed to attach via suction cup to a round plastic disc included in the kit. The disc has strong adhesive tape to mount it to the car but the only logical spot to locate it would be over the analog clock which is centered below the popup screen. My question is, can someone tell me how to remove the dash trim pieces so I can install the disc? I am pretty experienced at getting into most cars from previously installing many aftermarket car stereos but just want to make sure where the snaps are before I start prying and yanking on the quite nice dash.

I have used pro-clip in my last 3 cars and they are great. also since the mount is separate from the phone holder you can change phones and get a new mount. have an iPhone and use the Charging holder. Same as in my Wife's Lexus GX. Mine is on the right side of the center console. I can post pics if you want

I'm curious how much it expands the gap between wood and edge.

Here are some photos, I used an iPhone cable extension and the cable that came with the car. No real seperation between the wood and plastic. Only issue is it is so Horizontal that the phone can change screen orientation when cornering hard. If you use orientation lock on your phone it automatically changes back to vertical then locks.

I seem to remember there was a problem with that one and the Coupe, Also running the sync cable to it would be much more challenging.

There is one that specifically says not for the coupe. I need one for the work phone so it won't matter if there is a charger.

The website doesn't warn of this...I just tried to install it and it will not work with the Coupe.

Here are some quick pictures of the Kuda mount in my Vagon. The Kuda mount has a small metal lip on the side which slides in between the plastic trim and the temp control / seat heat buttons, and another bendable metal lip that you curl under the console trim where it meets the carpeting near your feet. Depending on the phone mount you go with it may block the passengers view of the temp controls, I used the provided double sided tape provided with the iphone mount (also from Kuda), but it also comes with provisions to affix a universal mounting "shoe" if you have different phones to support. The mount came in black leather and although its not a 100% match it looks pretty decent compared to a black metal stand. I'm a big guy and even my knee/thigh doesn't come anywhere near the mount once attached.

Re: Installing a cell phone cradle

My problem is my wife insists on coming with me every time I get in the car. She'll eventually knock that cradle off and ruin my console.

She may also want to use the seat heaters or thermostat...
