I am about to take delivery of my Coupe which was just built a month ago. Should I wait for a curing period to get this bra piton much like I would for a wax job?

No need to cure factory paint. Only paint done at a body shop. I had my dealer put the bra on my V before taking delivery. Now I have to wait for the rear bumper to cure before I can wax it thanks to some stupid b$tch that rear ended me

If a body shop bakes it you can wax it. No?

They do bake it, but the paint still needs to cure. Not as much with the poly's they use nowadays, but it is best to let them go for a couple weeks. From the factory, there is enough time for it to cure from the time it is painted to the time it is delivered to the dealer.

I just waxed my fender a day or two after I picked it up from the body shop. They said it would be fine and it came out great.

No need. And you don't need to wax. What you do need though is take out the swirls put on by dealer during their "delivery prep," since clearbra won't hide swirls.

Look up Premier, they are the only game in town.

Do NOT skimp on the installer because someone else say they can do it cheaper than Premier. If you don't want to pay Premier's price, just don't do it altogether. Most installers leave razor cuts on your paint because they simply do not have the skills to do custom wrap. And those pre cuts are a joke and looks like crap.

Do a search on other car forums and you will see the kind of damage that a bad installer will do to your car. Razor cuts everywhere, etc. If they can't remove your headlight to tuck in excess clearbra to create a seamless look for example, they are simply not skilled. Which is to say that most installers should stick to putting on stickers on their children's plstic models.

I have had all my cars clearbra'ed by them. The poor E39 M5 had the entire car custom wrapped, and people who have seen the car did not know the whole car was wrapped.

And no, I am not affiliated in anyway with them. But if you hang out on car forums, you know that they are legit.

To clearbra the whole car is anywhere from 5K for simple shapes like my E39 M5, to 12K for crazy complicated shapes like the Enzo.

If you intend on keeping the car for the long haul, it's worth it. They last about 5 to 8 years if you garage the car. If you track your car, the hood piece probably lasts 3 years tops because of the rock damage from R tires kicking up rocks onto your hood by cars in front of you going track speed. My GT2 hood piece at the end of 3 years could use a replacement, but it was a lease and I ended up not keeping it, so I just turned it in.

Oh, and forget about people saying that clearbra yellows, or that you can see it. Yeah, if they use the crappy film and don't know what they are doing, sure.

A properly installed clearbra is completely invisible, as in, you can get your nose right up to the car and you can't see it. They remove headlights, taillights, brand badge, grill, etc so that there are literally no cuts (like say, cutting around the Roundel on a BMW, bad installers do that, for example).

Before I took delivery of my 03 Turbo back in 2003, me and a friend of mine was at the dealership taking up the entire front of the car with painter's tape since the installer was booked and couldn't come and clearbra the car pre-delivery.

If they can't do it pre-delivery, and if you really really are anal about paint (like me), do that, and then don't drive it until you get it clearbra'ed.

    Re: Clear bra

Just dropped off my V Coupe at installer for the bumper, rear bumper (top) and hood. Also doing tint and remove CTS emblem.

Question - how far up the hood are your clear bras going up? Mine will be 23 inches from the center. Also, mine isnt not going to be straight across but a "bikini" style that will follow the curves of the front of the hood.

    Re: Clear bra

If/when I get one I want to do the entire hood. I have a black car so my fear is that I would see the line if they don't do the entire hood.

I saw a black V2 with a partial hood clear bra at my dealership this past weekend. It looked freakin awful and almost scared me away from clear bras altogether. I have no idea what they did wrong. It appears the owner didn't keep it up or something. The covered parts were so obvious and dirty/hazy looking compared to the rest of the car that looked pristine.

    Re: Clear bra

I saw a dark grey BMW M5 with a clear bra at the shop and didnt even notice the bra until owner pointed it out. The place I am doing it at does cars for the dealerships and do mainly high end cars. I am apprehensive but I know its a compromise of protection and appearance.
