I apologize for that sounding like a correction. I only meant it as a note explaining why it was called what it was, and how it came to be. On second thought, only somebody my age would probably know what that was. It also adorned the dash of certain years of Pontiac Trans-Am's.

This is the first time I have ever considered giving D3 any of my money. That Carbon is HOT!!! Do I dare ask how much?

Yes, I remember that well! However, I am not nearly your age Gary. LOL

I am still wondering what the price is. No response to my PM or repeated requests in this thread. You guys want to sell this stuff or just tease us? LOL

Sounds like it's so expensive that D3 is embarrassed to post the price here.

Think nothing of it. I enjoy learning new things. I'm never going to forget "engine tuned aluminum" as one of my favorite interior trims.

Not to take this thread off of it's intended course, but for those of you that are not familiar with how real carbon fiber is made / processed:
This is for aircraft /aerospace quality requirements, commercial requirements / policies/ procedures / processes would undoubtedly vary as necessary.

This would be typical for a part with some type of contour to it.

It is laid up in a mold, finish side to the mold, then bagged and put under vacuum, placed in an autoclave and gradually ramped up in stages of temperature until it reaches curing temperature requirements, then cured in an autoclave while vacuum is still pulling out any entrapped air bubbles, then cooled down while still under some vacuum, then removed from the autoclave & debagged. Machined as necessary and de-flashed as necessary.
That is the general aerospace process for parts of solid carbon fiber.
    Expensive, you bet.

    Hello All,

Sorry for the delayed response, once we got going for the day it seems to pass by so quickly. Before we knew it the sun had gone down!

The Carbon parts are of ACQ (Air Craft Quality) - they are indeed genuine carbon fiber, and precision built for 100% fit and finish as you can see from the pictures.

The kit as shown is set at $2495.00 -

Some good info on CF. I would like to know:

1.) the process they use and who does the work.
2.) Do we supply our parts or does the price include OEM parts.
3.) Process to order and how long it takes to get the product in hand.

That's a great (fair) price for the real deal. Nice kit.

A positive comment from mugatu! Did someone hack your account? Is this the start of a kinder, gentler mugatu? Nah!

No, no one hacked my account. I do think this CF kit is nice, and is what should be an option from the factory even at this price or higher. Most of my negative comments have been about the interior and this real CF kit looks like it transforms the look quite nicely. Sorry that my positive post disappointed you.
