    Cheap winter wheels????

I started an early search for some cheap winter wheels over the weekend. My first option is to find a complete set so that I can just leave the snows mounted on a separate set of wheels. That way I can just change them when I want, in my garage, instead of going through the mount, dismount, etc, twice a year. Not many wheels available for our car yet, let alone cheap ones. I checked Tire Rack, Discount Tire, Belle Tire, and several wheel sights. Anyone have any ideas??? Dick

Cheap? Not that I have found. Best bet is try ebay for some used stockers as people start putting on custom wheels on the cars.

Not gonna be cheap - but probably could get a set through a dealer. Scott, Tony, what do you think? Would your parts people entertain the idea ... ?

being a 5 lug, it's only a matter of time before you'll see replacements out there. Even the V1 had a few wheels available fairly quickly...

5x120 is almost the exact size of BMW. On my V1 I'm using C5 hubs with the stock brakes and BMW TR-1 18 lbs wheel.

Not sure if your limited to 19, but I bet a cheap set of C6 wheels would work.

    LOL!

To continue on topic, I never imagined having 19" winter tires until I decided to buy this car.

I'm hoping that by the fall, dealers will have at least the painted base 19's so I can put some Sottozeros on for the winter.

    Re: Cheap winter wheels????

Finding 6 LUG wheels for our 2006 STSv was near impossible back in late 2006when we picked up the car. It took a while but we did find some.
We ended up going down a size to 18s all around, those gave enough clearence for the brakes/calipers. Went with Dunlop M3 high performance snows which have worked great the past 2 winter seasons.

I pick up my CTSv 2nd week of April and hope there are some wheel options for us North cts-v owners by the end of the year.

I wonder if we will be able to squeeze 18 inch wheels on this car for the snows also.

The Sottozeros are on closeout sale at the Tirerack right now. I can't decide if I want to buy them now or wait until fall.

Well now, that's an idea that I never thought of...running 18 inchers with a matching bolt pattern. Wonder if that would have any effect on the ABS, stabili-track, etc. So if one found a set of 18's with a matching bolt pattern, then the next issue would be if the offset was such that they would clear the big front calipers???

Our STSv is running 18's all around (Stock was 18's front 19's rear), I don't see why we won't be able to use 18's on the 09CTSv as long as overall diameter remains the same. Of course, not all 18 inchers will be able to clear the calipers so you'll have to make sure nothing rubs. My goal is to find some 18's that will fit and that don't cost too much. I hope there are some out there.
