2009-2014 Cadillac CTS-V Appearance Mods Discussion, Paint/clear bra in Cadillac CTS-V Series Forum - 2009-2014; Has anyone taken a good look at their paint on the lower portion of the doors and the rockers?
Has anyone taken a good look at their paint on the lower portion of the doors and the rockers?
Granted I only have 600 miles on my car (crappy PA winters) but I hand washed it yesterday and noticed stone chips already on the lower portion of the rear doors and the back part of the rockers where it flares into the wheel. I did see GM put a small clear patch on the lower rocker rear, but my door is getting beat up too....with only 600 miles on it!
I know Black Raven is probably the worst color for this issue, however I am now convinced I need a clear bra for the front and other part of the car.
Yes, our black 08 CTS with 8,000 miles looks sandblasted along the bottom of the doors and rockers. Even the sunroof has a nice chip in it. The front has big chips including the entire hood, too late for clear bra for this car. When I get my V2, I'm having the clear bra installed before I ever drive the car.
GM may put out a TSB on these cars - just like they did on the Chevy Trailblazers. If you look at most Trailblazer SS's, you will see that the rocker and the area right ahead of the rear wheel looks to be sandblasted. I have a black Trailblazer SS and my damage was apparent enough for them to fix it and apply the 3M stuff to the sides of my vehicle (all under warranty). In all honesty, I will never buy another vehicle without having this film applied from the get go.
On a side note - those of you with the polished wheels will need to keep an eye on them for any signs of corrosion. These polished wheels that GNM puts on all of its products are JUNK. I do not know anyone that has had a factory set of wheels last more than 10,000 miles without corroding. The worst part of it is that GM actually does a nice chrome wheel for the cheap models they make... what a joke. My Trailblazer is going in for new wheels... again.
Does anyone have any experience with Block A Chip, certified 3M clear bra installer in Cleveland, OH? They travel through Ohio, Eastern IN and Western, PA. Prices seem reasonable.
Has anyone used Ziebart for their Clear-Shield product. I have had good experiences with Ziebart doing window tints and Diamond Gloss. Out local shop said they quit using the 3M product because if yellows after a couple of years.
I know the previous owner of Venture Tape here in MA. Their big deal was a clearer tape that doesn't yellow. Nearly 5 years later and that is true. 3M bought them out, though, a few months ago. Hopefully they incorporate Venture Tape into their brand...
