2009-2013 Cadillac CTS-V General Discussion Discussion, Axle rubbing (?) sound at very low speeds and turned steering wheel - "normal" or not in Cadillac CTS-V Series Forum - 2009-2013; you should be working for GM...was it the left rear for you as well?...
If it's a really loud, sounds like something breaking noise, and it's cold around 40 degrees and colder, then yes it's normal. Has to do with the cold suspension/tires on cold pavement.
Mine doesn't sound like anything breaking. It does it with ordinary turns of the wheel. I notice it when cool or cold and the car has not been driven much. It does sound like it could be the hubs (front not rear) but it could also be the diff.

I don't have a V but I have the premium coupe with 245/45/19 front Conti extreme contact 3 summer perf.tires and 275/40/19 rears. I back up and turn the wheel clockwise almost full and bang, bang. My feeling is it's the front driver side tire/suspension that makes this terrible breaking noise. I was handed the same tech bullitan. I am in NJ and it's been happening all year round not just winter or cold weather. Did it today mattter of fact in Home Depot parking lot this morning. I could make it do it over and over just by turning the wheel and backing up. Dealership won't do anything. Had it in many times. This problem is not just with me, it's with many coupe owners with 19" wheels. No problem with the 18's. I do plan to replace the tires with Conti DWS all season. But don't think it will fix the problem.
