I like the new Genesis Coupe. Might be a fun and cheap sport coupe. I anxiously await a review. I bet I could buy five of them for the price of one GT-R.

Re: Uh Oh the GT-R has major competition...

kidhummer -- just to break down the last quote which was meant to "summarize" what you were trying to say throughout the thread....

So why can't they be compared??

    Both have 4 Seats
    GT-R seats 4... V seats 5.

    Similar HP #'s
    so are the v & the gt500's
but V owners don't really cross shop with the stangs.

so basically, those cross shopping the two would go in to the cadi dealership & see the sticker & walk away, off to take a look at the GT-R...
get there, see the sticker price on the GT-R and know some of the specs and pop a woody.
Then sit down and watch the numbers climb?
then go back to the cadi dealership realizing that after being loaded to taste, the V is a much better value?

PS. I am a V lover, own one now, love it. Really excited about the new V coming out and I wasn't bad mouthing it in any way. I dont think my original post was so outrageous and there is no need to get so defensive.
the V is an amazing car...love it. both the 1st generation & the 2nd.

dont think anyone was getting defensive, towards you, just debating some of the 'facts' that we stated... after all, thats a big part of what these forums are intended for...

I was orignally looking forward to the GT-R. I don't really want one, but Id love to take a test drive of one for an afternoon. But the GT-R has 2 major flaws that are starting to ruin any interest I had in this car.

1st. The reliance of electronic aids.
The review by Japans' DK was an eye-opener. The car drove great as long as the aids were active. But it was poor drive with them off. This bores me to death.
I track my car because I love performance driving. I'm not there to be phastest or bestest, I'm there to drive hard and improve my driving skillset. I want to be the one keeping the tail in check, making sure the front tires load properly as you set up for a turn. Im still mastering heel-toe and would love to take a course this summer in trail braking!
If all early accounts of the GT-R are correct, then it certainly won't be that entertaining to people who like ot be in control of the car. It'll be an incredible technical masterpiece, but boring nonetheless.

2nd. This is the big one. Fanboys.
All of these fanboys are killing my enthusiasm. The constant comparisons to other practically unrelated cars is annoying at best. It's a new Skyline, it has nothing to prove! It'll be a good car!

Regardless, the GT-R will always look like it does, and the V2 will always look like it does along with a Caddy badge.

Here's a new direct V competitor although it does cost about three times as much. Make mine black.

Just in - Exclusive new spy photo of V2 circling the skidpad at 2.0 g

Yet another in a long line of marketing bits to sell against the competition - Not even a $100k M5 has training wheels! And if it did, it would be a $20k option because BMW screws their customers.

    V2 is l33t.
