Most aftermarket exhausts and intakes that free up horsepower also add to the overall fuel economy as well... to a point. Air/Fuel ratios are still within factory specs so excess gas doesn't appear to be wasted with these mods. Remember though, unless you can keep your foot out of it, none of this matters.

Thanks Fire and Ice. That makes sense to me. I guess that I could drive normally, most of the time so I shouldn't see too much of a drop in economy! I will be watching your progress. If you get into the installation of this new system, I may be taking a Road Trip to California! Keep us all informed!

Not unless you drive with the hood off or open. The CAI still has the air filter in the engine bay with a heat shield to keep the engine heat off it.

Re: 3.6L DI motor gains over 31 rwhp!!!

How much skill is involved to install the intake system? Are there any modifications (drilling holes etc) or is simple and straight forward? Will the computer need to be reset?

Re: 3.6L DI motor gains over 31 rwhp!!!

The intake system is a bolt on kit and the average person should be able to install it in about a ½ hour. At this time, we do not offer an ECU box for the vehicle. The factory computer should recognize the changes instantly and gains should be immediate.

Re: 3.6L DI motor gains over 31 rwhp!!!

As with all non factory intakes, there is a slight increase in inlet noise when accelerating. With the hood closed and under normal driving, I can't say I've really heard any noise from the intake. The tone of the engine changes slightly as we're moving more air into the motor, but that too is normal.

Thanks for the info and the reply. One more question, does doing this maintain the Manufactures Warranty ? Lewis

Every manufacturer and even each dealership has a different interpretation of their own factory warranty. It would be best to contact your local dealership and speak to the service advisers / manager and find out their stand on aftermarket products and the factory warranty.

Re: 3.6L DI motor gains over 31 rwhp!!!

idk about anyone else but ive owned and turned several cars and 31rwhp fomr just an intake and an exhaust on an N/A engine.. is sort of hard to believe... and as you probably know the manufacturers dyno sheets are always a little off

I myself was pretty shocked to see such large gains from two 'minor' mods, but the dyno graph speaks for itself. It obviously shows that the exhaust is very restrictive as is the intake. Nothing else was done to the car, not even higher octane fuel. We ran it for a baseline, installed the mufflers, ran it again, installed the intake and ran it again. No tricks, no ice, no octane boosters. I personally took a customer for a ride in the car and he noticed what a difference in the powerband these two modifications made.
