GMAccessoriesZone's "Cargo Tray" for CTS Sedan

Remove this ad
I recently purchased a GM cargo area liner for my '09 CTS sedan. It's referred to as a "Cargo Tray" at the GMAccessoriesZone.com site, listed under GM p/n 19169574. After installing it (it fits perfectly by the way).. I decided that the Cadillac wreath & crest emblem embossed in the center of the liner looked too plain and unnoticeable.. it needed some color. So I went out today and bought some paint at the local arts & crafts store, and painted the emblem. (I got the idea from a good friend in Missouri who used to post here). I've linked-in below a couple of photos taken of the before & after views. I think it turned out okay. Attached also is a link to a .pdf scan I made of GM's "Cargo Area Liner Installation Instructions", which came with the Cargo Tray.

Jee whiz, I'm sure glad they printed instructions. I don't think I would ever figure that out by myself.

LOL!! Yes, I have a 2nd net bag - got it from the dealer, as a peace offering. I store the cargo net in there when it's not in use, which is practically all the time. The other net bag is where I store the reusable ("green") grocery bags.

Nice touch, RAB! Let's hope that your cargo of groceries, luggage, or whatever does not mar your beautifully-painted Cadillac wreath & crest.

Question: After installing the liner, have you noticed any reduction in the amount of tire/road noise? Any change in the bass performance of your Bose audio system? Just curious, thanks.

Re: GMAccessoriesZone's "Cargo Tray" for CTS Sedan

Looks great, RAB! That's a clever idea. I just picked up my trunk liner last week (along with the spare tire kit) and have been thinking about ordering another bag to velcro on the side for exactly the same use: our reusable grocery bags! I've yet to use my cargo net on this car (I preferred the design of the first generation with the net dividing the trunk in half), so I may just take the net out and use the storage bag I already have instead of buying another.

I wondered if there would be any difference in road noise, too, but I didn't notice any difference with the tray installed. It's fairly thin plastic, not a thick rubber mat as was offered for the SRX, so I didn't expect to notice a difference.

Thanks, reciprocity, you answered my questions...I had mistakenly assumed that it was a heavier synthetic rubber.

Reciprocity, I went to Walmart and bought a 1" wide roll of velcro for three 3 bucks that has an adhesive backing. Took one of my wife's freezer baggies,
cut the velcro to right length, stuck it just below the zipper lock and there ya go !! Mike

Thanks 928S, for your kind words. I too thought about the painted wreath & crest becoming marred, and it is for that reason I will be applying a varnish over the paint to help protect it. I'll wait a couple more days for the paint to become totally set, and then apply the varnish.

That's a good point about a cargo liner having at least the potential to reduce the amount of tire/road noise, or change the bass performance of the audio system. I haven't noticed any differences as yet, but to be honest I've hardly driven my CTS since the cargo tray went in (over this past weekend).
As reciprocity mentioned, the tray material is a fairly thin plastic, so any change regarding noise deadening or an enhancement to audio acoustics could well be minimal or nil.

reciprocity, thanks for the compliment. We obviously have similar tastes in how a trunk should be configured!... not to mention the brand and style of car we drive. Like you, I much prefer the design of the cargo net I had in a car just previous to my '08 & '09 CTS's... that is, the net configuration in my '02 Aurora 4.0. Like your first generation CTS, the net in my Aurora divided the trunk in half. It was a very good design (as nets go), and we always had it set up. By comparison, the cargo net in my '09 CTS won't be seeing much service at all.
