Re: Onstar and XM activation on new CTS

Everything should have been setup by your dealer before you drove off. XM & OnStar are 'open' 24-7. My sales rep sat in the car with me and made certain that everything worked and was activated before I left. That included OnStar setup, XM activation, and even Bluetooth cellphone pairing!

Re: Onstar and XM activation on new CTS

Yeah, your dealer hosed you. It should have been working and verified by your salesman. You will get a survey that asks if everything was explained to you and working when you left. Make sure you put on the survey it was not. The bluetooth and Onstar are tied. You can call onstar and/or xm, but I would just take it to the dealer. You are required to call onstar to set-up w/in 24 hours. I don't know what they do if you don't (I'm guessing nothing), but whenever I tell the dealer I will set mine up on the way home, they stress it must be done in 24 hours.

I took delivery 3 weeks ago but I haven't had time (or need) to activate On-Star. Does this mean I am not able to get the one free year (from date of delivery) ?

I was never told there was a requirement to register within 24 hours. My XM and Bluetooth work fine so the dealer did that OK. Maybe he did the On-Star as well. How do I know if On-Star is active ?

Thanks

Now I know the On-Star is working. I was driving back to the office today when my radio was interrupted and an On-Star person came on welcoming me by name, asking if I am hjappy with my new CTS and wanting me to sign up for some additional stuff. Not right now thanks !!!

I guess my dealer did some of the leg work !!!
