I saw another thread on this but there was really no resolve that fit my issue. I am trying to pair my iphone but cant even get the nice woman to recognize what I'm saying. She understands when I say "dial" and other commands but no "bluetooth."
I do not have the Nav and have been doing the process correctly. I dont have an accent that would keep the car from recognizing my speech. It cant be the mic because it works otherwise. i know I have bluetooth but what gives. any thoughts?
Oh its a 2009 cts...btw
thanks! |

You need to store them separately.... it's not connected to your iPhone contacts as far as I know, so to recognize or identify a name, it needs to be stored in the CTS, but will connect to your iphone. I just "store" the frequent use ones and then any that I need to add along the way, I add... along the way.
Sucks a lot of names "sound like" menu or help, so she doesn't accept them. Overall though, works pretty well once you've stored them.
Would be nice if the CTS could hook into the voice recognition available on iPhones now. |

I have no idea why they insist on the handsfree command but you have to use it.

If you don't have nav then just hold the button for two seconds, wait for ready and the tone, then say bluetooth and then pair.
From the manual:
1. Press and hold (the phone button) for two seconds:
• For vehicles without a navigation system, the system responds with “Ready” followed by a tone.
• For vehicles with a navigation system, the system responds with a tone. After the tone say “Hands Free”. The system responds with “Ready” followed by a tone.
2. Say “Bluetooth”. The system responds with “Bluetooth ready” followed by a tone.
3. Say “Pair”. The system responds with instructions and a four digit PIN number. The PIN number will be used in Step 4.
4. Start the Pairing process on the cell phone that will be paired to the vehicle. Reference the cell phone manufacturers user guide for information on this process.
Locate the device named “General Motors” in the list on the cellular phone and follow the instructions on the cell phone to enter the four digit PIN number that was provided in Step 3.
5. The system prompts for a name for the phone. Use a name that best describes the phone. This name will be used to indicate which phone is connected. The system then confirms the name provided.
6. The system responds with “<Phone name> has been successfully paired” after the pairing process is complete.
7. Repeat Steps 1 through 7 for additional phones to be paired. |

I have the same issue the computer recognizes every other command except "bluetooth." I do not have Navigation on my 2009 CTS. Saying "hands free" has been suggested even though that is the process when there is a nav system. The computer responds, but does not let me follow up with "bluetooth."
Has anyone figured this out? |

Are you sure the car has it?
If you know where the option label is look for UPF.
If you say handsfree and then bluetooth and the car doesn't understand you then it may not have bluetooth. |

Thanks for the explanation, I do not have the UPF code. |

Do you have the UPF code on your options code list (under the spare tire cover)? Quote:
