yes, there is. Just turn the sound volume down. Radio that is...NAV will work perfectly...

Re: Navigation System

Thanks. That makes sense. I was trying to find a way to turn the radio off with the NAV still on. I guess you can't do that...

Re: Navigation System

I'm a Real Estate Appraiser, and on the weekends we use my wife's 08 CTS to drive and photograph the sales comparables that I use in my appraisals.

I do a lot of rural appraisals here in Texas, and the Nav system is great! I can find a ranch house down a gravel county road with no problem.....except that I have to wash the car for my wife before she drives it back to work!

I wish I had this system on the 04 Chevy truck that I typically drive. After market is $400 to $600, and that's with my son working for BestBuy and getting it for his dear old Dad!

Rick

Re: Navigation System

Nother thing.

The CTS sales reps are missing the boat on an important sales feature for the pop up nav system.

It's called the "Happy Husband Shopping Feature"! See, when my wife wants to go shopping, I take my old John Wayne DVD's along, with a large drink of your choice, and sit in the car and watch old westerns while she shops. And, if the drink of your choice is an adult beverage, you may not even mind what she spends!

Of course, then your wife would have to drive home!

Re: Navigation System

I agree with Mayimbe1979 and some others that this nav unit has some of the worst logic out there. I am in sales and use the nav constantly. It gives crazy directions way more than my previous gen CTS and way more than my wife's Mazda. I have compared it to my dad's Garmin, on particular routes I drive around town, and the Garmin never gives crazy directions. As far as usability, they all have some quirks. In general all the integrated units we have owned have had worse usability than top-of-the-line portable units. Competition? Priorities? Who knows.

But yes the screen is beautiful and the pop-up is cool. :-)
