Re: 2008 CTS Navigation

I got it, I haven't done much research on it but the more I think about it the less likely I think it is feasible.
I can't say it wouldn't be possible but....

Re: 2008 CTS Navigation

Thanks for looking into it. Way different than dropping the oem Navi in a C6.

Re: 2008 CTS Navigation

You will probably be the second, if not the first 'successful' install. And definitely the first if you plan on posting a DIY of the install. Two of the major questions were..........is the 40 GB HDD unit the same as the Nav/40 GB HDD and if so can it transition over/be used with the rest of the install components with a Nav disk load AND is the wiring harness in the dash a common harness with the connectors required for the Nav install just taped off...........

Re: 2008 CTS Navigation

Hey I'm new here and a first time Cadillac owner and I was wondering if anyone knows of a short cut key to go backwards in the menus other than the touch screen version. It would be easier to keep my hand near the menu dial/push button. Thanks!!

Re: 2008 CTS Navigation

i did get it all installed and everything seems like it would work. howerver the main radio is locked becuase the vin number in the radio doesn't match the vin in the main computer. however, everything still powers up just fine, it just says "locked" when you try to use anything. so now i need to figure out what i need to do to change the vin. i have been told that i can't send the radio in because its an alpine and the vin numbers are burned into the memory. so all i can do is get an exchange radio from cadillac for about $600 and then they can set the vin. however, i do have one gm tech that thinks that he can get it changed. so we will see what happens next week. however everything up to this point was a piece of cake. i bet i only have 2 hours in the whole install, and 90mins of that was making my own wire harness to connect the radio to the pop up screen.

Re: 2008 CTS Navigation

Jason--That is outstanding! Did you take pics? Do you have time to post some DIY instructions? This is great news! Did you find the plugs/connectors needed for the NAV install in the existing wiring harness behind the dash? to Jason!

Re: 2008 CTS Navigation

You can take it to any dealer and have them "SPS program" the radio with the latest software.
The programming will code the vehicle VIN into the unit and configure it for your specific audio options and it will be unlocked.

Not sure what they will charge. Here you would probably pay between $60 and $100 depending on how much time it really takes.
