| Re: Now ordering the 2010 cts-wagon While I had my '08 CTS FE3, I had an SRX loaner for a couple of months. The SRX was a very nice luxury wagon, with great seats, lots of rear head and leg room, and a pretty smooth ride. It's acceleration was okay, and it's handling was pretty good for an SUV, but it's not a sport sedan by any means. Plus, it's fuel economy was a bit worse than even my CTS-V. The seats were better than CTS, but the finish of the rest of the interior of the CTS is way superior, as is the stereo, Nav, etc.
The CTS has far superior steering, handling, braking, acceleration, and fuel economy, plus it looks like the CTS sedan has superior resale value as well. The sport wagon has decent back seat room, decent load space, and some neat load space features, but it has less space than the SRX, and no third row seat. The SRX was an enjoyable ride for what it is, but the CTS is a fun and luxurious sport "sedan" that you can attack fun roads with and can look forward to driving, while carrying more stuff than the sedan.
Compared to the Audis, you didn't say which one. The A4 is smaller, and not as well finished as the CTS. The A6 is bigger and very nicely finished, but won't drive very sporty, and is a lot more expensive. The CTS is rear drive or AWD, and in this respect is closer in concept to BMW or MB, but better priced for the size. A 5-series wagon is the closest competitor in theory, but I think they're only available with AWD, and are LOT'S more expensive. |
