I brought the ? of lug nut torque for 2008 vs. 2009. He looked into it for me and found that Cadillac went to a larger lug nut/wheel stud for 2009. So, this was an interesting ? that came up. So 2008 CTS owners use 100 lb ft & 2009 CTS owners use 140 lb ft.
Again, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm glad the owners manual for the 2009 was correct (140 lb ft) since I've done my own rotation 3 times and going to do it again today. |

I guess it was just a coincidence that the Nm and lb ft conflicted perfectly. Again, sorry; my bad. |

GM does torque by the size of the fasteners so I know which stick to grab for what size lug nut.
Glad to help when I can.
Sorry there are some sub-par dealers out there guys.
We'll be here for any of you local guys and any of you that want to drive over here
I have gotten customers from New York, Florida, Tennessee and even one from Washington state!!

I have gotten customers from New York, Florida, Tennessee and even one from Washington state!! | I just bought a torque stick/socket for CTS. It's made by Accutorq. 140 lb ft for 7/8" nut. I'm curious how these things work and how much air pressure I need for my 1/2" impact wrench.
Will, we have sons in Virginia Beach. Maybe we'll see you when we make a trip to visit them. |

I'm pretty busy most of the time so I may not have much time to chat, but I'll always take a minute to shake someone's hand.
Depending on the air gun you really need to match the power setting on the gun up when you use torque sticks.
I had an instructor show me how a while ago. If you set the thing on full blast and it is a 500 lb ft gun you can still do some screwed up stuff if you don't match up the sticks to the gun.
I set my gun on 3 when using torque sticks, 4 when working on pissed off fasteners.
Most shops I have been in usually run around 100 psi.
I think we are a touch over that back here in this other building. |

I just had mine rotated, but didn't think to ask if they reset the TPMS. If not, we'll still see if there is a problem, we will just have to make sure we check to see which tire it actually is.
As to the torque setting changing from 08 to 09, the problem is that many techs will probably not bother to check and see that it changed. They will just use the 100, which is very common for GM vehicles. |
