Why not give Nick a break....sounds like he needs one. Clearly he is passionate about his car (as many of us are, hence the forum). He made a sizable investment because he loved that car. Given the multiple servicing issues that the car required, he unfortunately vented his utter frustration to the service group and on the forum. Maybe not so diplomatically...but that too is a learned art. Clearly his latest experience was the explosion of many experiences that inevitably became the straw that broke the camel's back.
Note his frame of mind in earlier post "this too shall pass".
C'mon gang, give him the benefit of the doubt....he has helped many of you
and I know I have learned quite a bit from his posts.
Thanks Nick and take it easy. |

Well, the owner of dealership calls the cops? The owner? How? It's Shame....
The owner of my cadi, whenever, he saw me at the dealer, he always asked me how I am doing and is there any unsolved problem.
My local grocery shop selling $1 candy bar, they never do such thing. |

You probably never told the owner of your grocery store that he was half a man and to go f*** himself, either. Regardless of the price of the item in question, I don't know many businesses that will tolerate that kind of behavior from someone.
I feel bad that Nick had problems with his car, but it shouldn't come as a shock to discover that a Dealer doesn't want to warranty electrical problems when the system has been significantly altered by changing and splicing in numerous add-ons: Installing LEDs, a new roof antenna and wiring, DVD players, a subwoofer box and new amplifiers constitutes MAJOR modifications to the factory installed electrical system. The MAF sensor might have been damaged while installing the intake, so that doesn't surprise me either.
We all love to hate the car manufacturers for denying warranty because of mods, but carmakers aren't the only ones to do it. I recently opened up an Xbox 360 controller to clean out some soda that got spilled on it, and there was a hologram sticker covering one of the torx screws. Why? Because once I open it up and change the way Microsoft put it together, they will no longer be held liable for the quality of the product.
Since car makers can't stick a huge hologram sticker over the hood release lever to tell when a car has been modded, they instruct the Dealers that warranty no longer applies to an area of the car that has been modified. Put yourself in the shoes of the business owner and it makes sense- you guarantee YOUR work, but if they change it than they're on their own.
I personally think that unless the MAF has obviously been manhandled then it should still be covered, mods or not, but the rules are so clearly spelled out in the owner's manual warranty book that I'm simply amazed that people run into this problem and still get outraged.

And, I am not talking about the warranty. I want to talk about how they run business.
The manager or the owner of the dealer would think one more time and would introduce his position first. Isn't it? Bussiness 101.

The problem here isn't the car, the warranty or the Service Manager- it's a person thinking that they're the king of the world and can treat people like dirt because they bought a $40,000 car. He found out the hard way that he was wrong.
Nick seems like a totally cool guy and we all appreciate his contributions to the forum, but the way he handled this situation is completely uncalled for. In the case of telling a Service Manager to go f*** himself and then getting his warranty claim denied, it's a case of messing with the bull and getting the horns. I usually don't talk to anyone that way, but I especially make a habit of never insulting people who handle my food, work on my car, etc.

Unless someone at the dealer was feeling up his girlfriend, stealing from the OP or threatened physical violence, there is NO EXCUSE for that behavior...ever...
Today's society seems to want to forgive for loss of control. Each is responsible for his/her actions. If the cops were called, the OP is an idiot...

I'll admit I have the mod bug as bad as the next guy, but common sense must prevail - particularly on a $40K purchase.
I have a D3 CAI installed and a lockpick. Neither of which have caused any problems, but if necessary a few bolts and unplug a harness and I'm back to stock if necessary. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
