your mistake wasn't buying a CTS, your mistake was going to Kemper Cadillac. Making a little longer ride to a slightly farther dealership will save you a lot of headache & hassle. I chose to drive further, because Brogan Cadillac in Totowa is the shit.


Good luck, your situation sucks just as badly as your attitude.

I have found that during my lifetime (going on almost 50 years) a little respect goes a long way. You respect the other guy, tone down the ##@$%$ language, and work with them reasonably, they will try to help and work with you - although sometimes this process takes longer that desired ! (at which point you have to be more creative). Direct angry confrontation, throwing a fit, etc., never gets the job done - especially with someone you don't know (be it mechanics, service manager, owner, mayor, judge, police officer, etc !). It just shows immaturity and attitude, which turn most people off.

In this particular dealer's case, I would calmly discuss with them the items that are not working, get it dealt with as soon as possible, and then NEVER GO BACK - go somewhere else. There are plenty of dealers out there that will do this work under warranty.

It seems your bad attitude is as well received here as it was at the dealership. Life will hold some hard lessons for you if you don't change your spoiled brat, entitled attitude towards other people. I suspect rather then reading the comments here and really allowing them to soak in, you'll just continue to pop off at the mouth and end up banned from yet another place.

I am rather "new" here but will throw in my 2-cents...

While I may not agree with the yelling -- it usually gets no action what so ever -- I will confirm from my recent observations with Cadillac Customer Service that when something goes really wrong with your Cadillac (in my case I have a 2009 CTS) the Cadillac Call center is just about the WORST customer experience a global "world class" company can provide…

When Cadillac customer service links directly to the Service Manager on a topic or issue that they don't know how to deal with OR a repair that looks to be extremely labor and cost intensive, they basically tell the Service Manager to STALL STALL STALL and though my Service Manager is a good guy, the B.S. that is handed out within most Cadillac service departments is really ridiculous - and I say this as someone who has visited a number of Cadillac stores AND I also worked as a ASM for a Lexus store...

After going through the Cadillac Customer Service process - while I don't condone the yelling and screaming -- I can totally see how it could happen -- ESPECIALLY to a new customer, coming to Cadillac from another brand, imports in particular.

When your car is diagnosed with a problem, it should not be on the customer's shoulders to push hard to get the vehicle fixed or replaced. Cadillac's M.O. when something major goes wrong is STALL, I am not yelling and screaming about it because I will just use lemon law however, my point is Cadillac's customer service boarders on customer abuse.

I take issue with Cadillac not fixing a car that has had "mods" I think it is incumbent upon the dealer and Cadillac to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the mod has caused the warranty to void and put it in writing, something Cadillac will refuse to do no matter what the problem is...

I can see from the posts that this owner is experiencing a number of problems with the vehicle (I am in the same boat) and while we may not agree with this customer's approach it is clear that this new Cadillac customer has had a less than pleasurable experience which is unfortunate for the brand.

The measure of a great company is NOT how they treat their customers when everything is fine rather, the measurement of a great company is how they treat a customer when something goes wrong. I agree that this customer may have taken the yelling and screaming too far however, I am not yelling and screaming at Cadillac and am having a equally horrific experience. In this day-and-age when we are spending a good bit of hard earned money on a new Cadillac -- a bad experience is really unacceptable. Bad service to a 1st time Cadillac customer such as myself, makes me really miss my Lexus and or BMW service experience...

I think a cold air intake is a simple mod, and one that should be fine. Perhaps his trunk mod goes too far (It does in my book) but again isn't it on the dealer's and Cadillac's onus to prove that the mod caused the problem prior to pulling the warranty?

I mean if I installed one of the slick D3 cold air intakes is Cadillac going to pull my warranty?

They may (not sure of D3's exact relationship with GM). That is how warranties work.

Sure, you may be able to find a sympathetic dealer (not getting belligerent with them usually helps) that will overlook the changes you have made and cover these things, but they are not required to warranty any system that you have modified or tried fixing yourself.

Again, if you may want something warrantied in the future, do not mess with it. Only mod what you can afford to lose or replace yourself.

Its probably worth noting that many dealerships will overlook mods and do all sorts of warranty work anyway, whereas others won't touch your car if YOU already have.


Don't believe? Ask some of the F/I CTS-V owners who don't need to sweat. The dealership (and your relationship with them) has a lot to do with the warranty service you'll receive. "Treat others as you would want to be treated."
