but I do agree its a risk to heavily modify a new car...a risk that you take with the mod bug........ |

My 09 CTS has almost 8.5K on it and I've really only had squeak issues which have been mostly fixed. Nothing major, knock on wood. Good luck, I hope it works out. |

While many have the Mod bug, it is worth hanging back a bit....see how things are running before making any major investments. Okay...maybe do some (easily removable ones).
A lesson for all who are thinking about it for sure. And what makes it worse, you are at the mercy of a service group that has issues.
Keep us updated and best of luck. Chin up. | Thanks for the input. The lesson is learned. I would have Lemon Lawed it for an 09 months ago if I hadn't just finished the custom trunk. Everything else is removeable and I kept the stock parts. Quote:

1. Custom CAI (Voided Air Filter warranty)
2. Magnaflow Cat-back (Voided muffler warranty)
3. Rosen Entertainment Headrest TV/DVD Players
4. FormulaOne Pinnacle Ceramic tint (so as not to void the warranty)
5. E&G Classics Type II Rear Spoiler
6. 2009 Shark Fin Roof-mount Antenna
7. ALL interior lights changed to cool white LED
8. HOEN Supermatch Fogs (suck ass)
9. 2007 Woodgrain Shifter Knob
10. Debadged
11. Here is the big one - Fully custom, tan suede-lined, DynaMat Ultra insulated trunk featuring a custom subwoofer enclosure housing 2x Alpine Type-R 12's, Alpine PDX1000.1 Amplifier, MTX Re-Q5 sound processor, all trimmed in Sapele Pommelle wood and brushed aluminum. Trunk is lit like a christmas tree using all white LEDs. We utilized all of the stock trunk panels and resin-coated them to make them rigid, instead of carpet. They are immoveable mountains.
12. Chrome Grille Kit
13. Shock Sensor added to stock alarm.
14. Pirelli PZero Sotto Zero Snow Tires
That's it, a short list, but unrecoupable. |

My car has only been to the dealer twice in 10k miles & 11 months - one to reindex the driveshaft, and one to change oil / rotate tires. I try to keep my cars out of their hands as much as I can - past experience has shown me that they can screw up as much as (or more than) they fix, depending on mechanic and/or service dept. I would go to a different dealer if possible.
Best of luck! |

Nick...really saddened by your news. I haven't posted on here much, but I remember almost exactly a year ago when I redeployed from Baghdad, I ordered my 08 CTS and, even though they screwed up my order, I bought an identical car 150 miles away shortly theresfter. You were one of the most prolific posters on here. Thanks for all your advice...and I sincerely hope you get all the probs resolved. I did! My 60 mph vibration issue was resolved and I'm a very happy camper. You have the patience of Job My Friend...keep us posted Bro! |

I feel bad for you for all that has happened.
In your initial posting you said that the car was back with the dealer for service.
What happened? Did you get the car back and was the dealer able to repair the items you pointed out to your satisfaction?
I also have a Cadillac CTS and your experience tells me what to look out for. What happened to your car may happen to any of us so I personally am very intersted in what your outcome is.
Kepp us all posited and good luck. |

Kepp us all posited and good luck. | They are actually replacing the trans this time, after a huge battle with Cadillac corporate, so I don't place all of the blame on Kemper service. The transmission is lost somewhere on a truck. Hopefully, I will have the car back on Wednesday or Thursday of next week. We shall see.

The day I picked it up new (Nov 07), the engine light was on and I feared this was an omen of what was to come. One day old and it was back at the dealership. Within a week, back to the dealership again with the engine light on again. Both times was told it was an engine sensor, probably shook loose from transport. Had a very bad squeak, took me several trips to the dealership, finally have that fixed. Now the engine light came on Monday, got it back the next day, told me it was another sensor and was fixed. Wednesday engine light came on again, now they say it is the timing chain and when I went to find out if it would be done today (as promised) I was told there is a bulletin out that said they are to rethread the cylinder, that problem has cropped up. I just turned 10,000 miles on the car!! I won't get it back til next week now.
I've owned three Cadillacs because they have all been VERY reliable and I love the style of the CTS, this is my second one, but I'm really having misgivings about a car that I've owned 13 months, 10k and it seems to be one thing after another. |

Read your post earlier today. Went out on the expressway and tried your shift point into 5th.........perfect. Tried it several times, and perfect every time. I'm glad to hear that they are replacing the trans for you. As for some of the other problems, it sounds like your dealer's back room is not 5 star rated. They would have had to restrain me after the incident with the grease on your seats! Hope that everything gets taken care of. I have had no problems in 11 months of ownership. I do my own oil changes and tire rotation so no trips to the dealer,s back room. I'll be hoping that things work out well for you. |

Well it is official - JAGUAR HAS PURCHASED CADILLAC!! - or at least it sounds that way - Holy moly! I have an '04 and I have never had that many issues in a two year period let alone the time you have had your "new and improved" car.
It really blows when cars that look this good and play to our heart strings on so many levels (handling, acceleration, etc.) wind up being less than the package (kinda like the magna cum laude who moonlights as a stripper...oh wait...LOL)
But seriously, these cars are approaching JAGUAR status; gorgeous, well engineered, competitive rides that do not live up to the overall design promise due to the build flaws: simple fixes with a minimal quality control but that really get your goat in a day to day application. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
