My On Star subscription expired last week. Does anyone know if there is any way to save money on the renewal? I know XM gives you a discount after you let your subscription expire. Does OnStar?

You might try doing a search on this....as I recall, there were some here who got a $12.95 monthly deal, after the usual threats to quit, etc. Give it a try and keep us posted. Good luck.

I just passed my one year aniversary. I didn't want to let the ON* lapse so I renewed. I called ON* to find out if there were any promotions or deals and was informed that they don't have any. The only discount is to order it for one or more years. The longer you renew, the lower rate per year. For the one year subscription it runs $199 for the "Safe & Sound" pkg. and $299 for the premium pkg which includes Turn by Turn Navigation, Concierge and free 411 service. Even I haqve the navigation system in my car, the turn by turn comes in very handy if you need to find directions in a hurry and don't have the time to pull over and program the nav system. You just give them the address, or the name of the location and they download it almost immediately to your car. It gives you verbal and display information in your DIC to guide you to your spot. It is actually gets you closer that the Nav system does. If you don't get out of your area too often, that may not be for you, but being able to call onstar while you are on the road at night and want to find a place to stay, or to eat, you just call ON* and they willl find you the closest hotel or whichever type of restaurant you want and call and make your reservations and then guide you to that institution. If you don't need all of that service the $199 package might be the best.

I renewed after the one-year trial for $148.92 for the basic plan. (I've never really needed the turn-by-turn plan.) When I called to renew, I simply told them I wanted their best deal or I would cancel the service -- which was a bluff since I get a reduction in my car insurance because of OnStar, plus the other services are beneficial).

^^ Call and tell 'em to cancel. They'll put you through to another department that will offer you the $12.95/mo or $144/year for "Safe and Sound" pkg.

I let my OnStar expire, and they send me an email. They offered $50 off the yearly fee to renew. Just FYI for anyone whose expiration date is approaching.

I just renewed for $160.00, 7% tax included, on Oct 19 for my 2008 CTS. That was for 14 months (they threw in 2 months for free). This also included 100 additional phone minutes with 40 rolled over from the past year.
Just cry the blues....and they will always bargain. Good Luck!
