Glove box door release button takes flight

Remove this ad
Okay.. so I park my CTS this morning after my drive to work and decide to put something in the glove box. When I press the 'Release' the entire release button comes flying out along with a plastic pin/shaft and a spring. Hmmm, okay.. "well, this shouldn't even happen on the cheapest Chevy".. I said to myself. I was able to re-close the glove box door (without the release button and other hardware attached). Of course now I can't open the glove box door until the thing is fixed (as in fully assembled again). I've called the dealer, and they said they'd order in a new latch & release assembly and set up an appointment for me when the parts come in.
Maybe when the car goes in for that job I'll have them fix another 'small problem' I've noticed, that of a bad fit-up between the front left fender and left-side facia panel.. as well as an excessive gap between the bottom of the headlamp assembly and left-front facia. The dealer's service manager recently inspected the poor fit-up (on my particular request they do so) and declared that they would likely have to remove the front bumper to correct the panel alignment problem.
So the car is going into the shop once again.
I've included a couple of photos below regarding the two issues I've reported on here.

Re: Glove box door release button takes flight

I have the identical problem as your second issue. With mine it just needs a slight push and it realigns itself for at least a little while. Seems like it may be missing a clip or a fastener needs tightening. Its on my small fix-it list. I'll wait till if or when I get more items to add.

My front fascia is loose on the driver's side too. The dealer said it's missing a clip that they've ordered. I hope that IS all it is.

Mine also re-aligns (to an extent) with a slight push, and then comes out of alignment within a very short time. What sort of gap do you have on your CTS under the same-side headlamp unit? The dealer checked out my vehicle and confirmed there are no missing clips and no fasteners needing tightening. My bumper will have to be removed and re-installed, with all relevant panels needing to be properly aligned. For me this problem has graduated from a small fix-it list (to be done later on) to a list of jobs needing to be addressed now.

My gap is identical to yours same side and all. The rest of the front facia looks fine and in alignment so I still think it may just be missing clip. Hell I know I can put it up on a rack and attach clip or self tapping screw and call it done. Pulling the front off seems overkill but if its on their dime have at it.
