I have heard that before, but I've also heard the opposite... True, K&N's million mile warranty applies only to the air filter. But they also state that they will pay for any vehicle repairs that the dealer says were caused by a properly installed and maintained K&N filter (

Like I said, I've never had any issues with them. I believe if they are maintained properly (cleaned after 50,000 miles, not over-oiled) they work well. In my 2000 WS6 Trans Am I did notice a power gain after installation; in my other V-6 vehicles not so much.
Maybe I am rolling the dice, but my dad, brother, and several friends have been using K&N Air Fileters for years with no issues, so for me I believe this is a low risk. We'll see.
