Considering an 08 CTS... Memorial Day Sales?

Remove this ad
Well I am deeply considering an 08 CTS. I currently drive a 2007 Ford Mustang GT500. Love it to death, however I want something that is going to be a better daily driver. I am certainly keeping the mustang.

I have been looking at 08's for the past couple of months, and I have negotiated prices. However I am not quite where I want to be. Even with my $1000 loyalty bonus and GM Supplier Discount. (I am cheap, the mustang was an impulse buy.)

Does anyone know if there are any speculated memorial day sales? This is usually a big weekend for car sales. If Cadillac came out with 0% I would be where I want to be with the payments. I wont be going for all of the fancy features, I am thinking of going with the DI and the package that includes the memory seats.

If not I may just jump the gun and get the nice shiny red one my dealer has sitting on the lot. With the black interior it's a hot car.

You prob won't find memorial day sales. GM has 3.9% until 5/21 for 36mo. As for getting one that you want, you are too late. You can't order an 08 now. You would have to pick from dealer stock, or have your dealer locate for you. (Or wait two weeks and order an 09)

No sales, either soon or later--the car is just too hot and sells instantly without extra coupons.

Right now is about as good as you'll see it, if you can find an '08 matched to your specs already built or on the way.

Wasn't planning to order one... I refuse to wait months before it arrives. The dealers here have plenty of them. It's not hard to find one with the options and the color I want. They must not be selling in my area, because the dealer's around here have a ton of them sitting on the lot. I visit the dealership often and I constantly see the same ones sitting on the lot that were there a couple weeks ago. (I am in South Tempe, AZ, this is a rather upscale part of the phoenix metro area.)

Cadillac has had great offer's in the past over the memorial day weekend. Last time I negotiated a deal (few weeks ago) the interest rate was 3.9% for 60 months.

If not I may consider trading in my $60,000 Mustang for a fully loaded CTS. Fortunately the GT500 Mustangs are selling for more than MRSP, I may make money on my used one. I can take the extra money and possibly put it into some performance upgrades to make myself satisfied. Either that or just forget about the CTS all together.

I think you may be right about the memorial day offers, just not on the CTS. All of Caddy's current offers end on May 21st. That leaves just enough time to debut new stuff for the holiday. Currently, the Caddy finance teaser is 2.9 for 36 months, no other terms offered. I spoke to my car-dealing brother today, and he says current buy-rate on loans is 5.25%, 3.9% is a gift from god.

In regards to selling your GT500... DON'T!!!!! Hold on to that damned car until you need the help of your grandkids to get you in the driver's seat. That is a true collector's item, don't trade it in for a CTS. Aside from the fact that you will take a beating on the value of the car (since it is still just a used car), you will also lose the potential to make a small fortune off of the sale of it in 2030, when supercharged V8's are only referred to in fairy-tales.

My $0.02

Im not sure I could ever part with that car... One reason I was originally looking at getting another car was to keep the mileage off of the stang. Rather than finance I might go down to the dealer with cash and see if they may give me a good deal on something they have in stock.

I have heard that they get a spiff from GMAC when the car is financed though? So I am not sure if they will offer me a good deal or not.
