The more I look at these wheels the more I love them. What tire size, 245/40/20??

Re: These rims look close to stock?

That Thunder Grey colour looks really sharp. Every car that I've essentially had has been black but if there was another colour I'd go with, it's that grey. With regards to the tire size, I personally have no idea but I'm sure someone here will. I think I will be going with the 20 x 8.5s. The more I look at that pic, the better it looks!

Cheers

Re: These rims look close to stock?

I think I am going to pull the trigger on these....very similar to OEM, however bigger. According to TSW and Discount Tire's site the hyper-black is a deep-silver color (not deep black) so it will match Thunder Grey, Silver and Black cars very well. Worst case, I have them re-finished in silver, however I have been looking at wheels for the CTS for months now and nothing has an OEM-like look w/o the nasty 3-piece rivets (which clutter the look IMO). These look really sharp and they are very affordable $296 ea...wow! While I would LOVE to run 20X10 in the rear and 8.5 in the front, given the lowering that I am planning this likely will not work according to other threads on this board. I think this is the ticket....great find Hemo!

Re: These rims look close to stock?

Ok just did some more digging on these wheels....I found out that TSW makes a 9.5 rear option in the 19" size (not 20") which gives you a 3.5" lip in the rear and I could stagger this with a 19X8 for the front (with a 1.5" lip). Does anyone know if a 19X9.5 would fit in the rear w/o rubbing with a lowered stance? I am thinking that it may work okay but am unsure....

Re: These rims look close to stock?

Glad to help When do you plan on ordering them? Let me know, and please provide a pic when you do get them on. I won't be home until July so I'll have to wait. I bet they're gonna look amazing!

Cheers!

Re: These rims look close to stock?

Okay -- HELP --- Got some questions:

I like these rims too ----
Looks like you can go 20X8.5 with a 35mm offset.....

What tires should you go with?
245/40/20
275/35/20

I like the idea of the wider tread with the 275 series.... Thoughts?

ALSO --- they make these rims in 20X10 with 25 offset and 35mm offset...
Is 20X10 too wide??

Re: These rims look close to stock?

Concerning tires:
Doing some tire calculations.....
Looks like the 245/40/20 are a good bet for what I need:
When compared to the stock 235/50/18 ---- the 245/40/20 have an overall diameter .50 greater than the 18's..... So that could fill a little of that open wheel-well space --- The circumference is also larger than the 18's......

Re: These rims look close to stock?

Hey guys, I just added 20'' wheels and went with a 245/40/20 tire. The tire fit real good on our cars just keep in mind as if our cars don't sit high already you will be even higher with the new tires. I would also start thinking about lowering your ride Hemogoblin.

Re: These rims look close to stock?

I agree with the lowering aspect...the car is already a 4X4 IMO. Maybe 19X9.5 rear and 19X8 fronts would be ideal with the H&R springs soon to be released which will take the CTS down by 1.4". Will I rub in the rear with a 9.5? Thoughts?

The 245/40 is 1/2" taller than stock - which means that the car will only sit 1/4 inch higher. At the same time, it will actually fill out the wheel wells slightly better than stock.

BTW, I dissagree that the car sits like a 4x4 stock. I don't see that at all.

Re: These rims look close to stock?

I agree, I never really thought the CTS sat too high but I guess it's all relative. I do plan on dropping it a bit in the future, so that is definitely an option. Should look really sharp with a drop and those rims...

Cheers

Re: These rims look close to stock?

I also think a 265/35 is a good fit the only thing is the tire calculator I used suggested a rim width of 9-10.5" and since I went with a 8.5" rim I thought it wasn't a option for me. I guess I should have asked first. I do like the way it fills the wheel well though and when I get the new springs installed it should sit just lower then stock.

Re: These rims look close to stock?

I had a good talk with Dubbed Stealth today who gave me some good advice....I think I am going to try 255/35/20 or maybe 265/35/20 on a 10" rear wheel and an 8.5 front with a 245/35/20. The offset of these TSW's is 35 and while it should be 34, I dont have a choice. I am hopeful that I will not have any rubbing issues...
