Sun shade for front windshield

I've been looking for a custom fit sun shade for the front windshield. Has anyone found a good one? GM sells one for the rear window, but not for the front.

Re: Sun shade for front windshield

Good question, Black08CTS.

I bought an "Axius Auto-Shade" cardboard sunshade (found locally only at KMart @ $3.29), measured and cut it to fit my windshield. There's a tacky oversized picture of a pair of sun glasses blazoned across this white cardboard sunshade, but it works fine and it's easy to handle, install, remove, and store.

As an alternative, I'm tempted to order a "Covercraft" custom-fit silver sunshade from AutoAnything: http://www.autoanything.com/driving-...0A3018958.aspx. Any user feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Sun shade for front windshield

I've ordered the covercraft from autoanything and it fits perfectly. In the past I would always buy a universal fit from a local autoparts store but from now on I will only be using the covercraft UVS100 folding sunshade.

Re: Sun shade for front windshield

I've had a few but the one I bought from CarMotorsports.com is the best. It is custom made for the CTS, rolls up easily and fits snugly. There is a BIG difference in temp inside the car when this is used. I found one listed on eBay at http://cm.ebay.com/cm/ck/1065-29296-...3007442&lk=URL that you might like to see.

Question about window tinting

This is probably covered in another thread but it's sometimes very time consuming trying to find it so I'll ask it here. I remember reading in the owner's manual that window tinting would void the warranty as it relates to the navigation system. I can understand not tinting the rear window but I don't see why tinting the side windows would cause a problem.

Anyone know about this? Here in the sunny south, the summers can be brutal.

Thanks

If you use one of the better tints on the market (like ceramic based), the tint will NOT interfere with the GPS satellite signals. Both of my cars have the warning about tint interfering with the Nav and both are tinted without problems. Just avoid the cheap metallic based tints and you will have no problems. You can tint the side and the rear window without problems (assuming your state allows it).

Re: Sun shade for front windshield

Just a quick followup. I called AltaMere where I've gotten windows tinted before. They quoted me a ceramic based tint job for $390. Does this sound right?

That probably depends on where you live. Around here (Dallas area), I would consider that high.

I can confirm I have the windows tinted, rear included, and there is no problem with GPS or any other radio signals...

Re: Sun shade for front windshield

My CoverCraft shield arrived today. It fits like a glove and keeps the car much cooler than the other shade I was using. The only thing I don't is the its bulk which makes it difficult to store. Thanks for recommending this product.
