(about another 100 ~ 200 ms).. once this is done the RFA can negotiate with the remote key. Of course you have to wake up the remote key (another delay). Then the key must respond and there are a couple of messages that take care of this hand shaking, then the RFA send the driver door module the unlock command and the door must unlock.

So given the amount of communications that must occur, there is little that can be done about delays in the system.
I fully understand that. See my post above on how the Corvette works.

Re: Auto Door Unlock Feature

On the Acura RL all you needed to do was lightly touch the door handle to unlock. It was pretty amazing.
There was also a dimple on the handle that you lightly touched to lock.

Coming from that I don't especially mind the way the CTS autolock performs.

BMW's are the same way. I'm not sure if I like it or not. I guess it's like anything, we can get used to it once we stop whining and bitch and just accept what we have

Re: Auto Door Unlock Feature

Man that tip from Bender was great. I tried it out and just as he said, a little pull on the front door handle and the back door opens!

No prob. I'm usually thanking Cadillac Tony or some of the other contributors, so I'm happy to reciprocate.

Re: Auto Door Unlock Feature

I'm with jjsC6. That slight delay after pulling on the door handle is irritating. It didn't bother me at all until I drove a Prius for a week. On that car any delay between touching the door handle and unlocking is totally imperceptible. If they can do it on a $20K Prius, why not on a $50K Cadillac?

Re: Auto Door Unlock Feature

I have noticed that if I approach and open the passengers front door first, then I can open any other door on the car without having to push anything.

This behavior can be changed. See page 3-74 and 3-75 of the manual. The option can be set to have no door unlock automatically (must use the fob button to unlock), have the "entry" door only unlock (the driver's door only), or "all" doors (all will unlock after you open the driver's or front passenger door).

Re: Auto Door Unlock Feature

Yea, I am pretty sure you can unlock all doors when touching the front door handle. You should call the dealer.
