Did anyone ever post a picture of how to solve this? The noise stopped but has reappeared. Need to eliminate it. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Noise in rear passenger area?

C'mon Homer, you can do better....

I have the same noise. Haven't had time to go to the dealer yet. As the dealer first attempt was unsuccessful I would like to see what others did before i talk the my dealer....

If its coming from your rear seats then I had the same problem, what I did was pull the rear seats all the way down and put them back. The noise seemed to stop.

Re: Noise in rear passenger area?

the clunk thats comes when you drive over the seams in a concrete road or hit a manhole cover clunk...sounds like it comes from the rear passenger door..like its loose...it is the door locking mechanism..defective..the door lock itself..cadillac knows..finally got mine changed..took 3 visits, but all better..

Re: Noise in rear passenger area?

Thanks John. I've been going crazy trying to resolve this noise. I thought mine was in the trunk or rear suspension. I also notice it while going over depressed manholes or ripples in the road. I've been to the dealer 3 times with no success. I'll have them check the rear door locks. Was it the right passenger door?

You described exactly what I am experiencing! Thanks for the info!

Now I am much more confident to take the car to the dealer...again!

Re: Noise in rear passenger area?

Mine was a loose headrest rail inside the rear passenger seat back. You can see if this is your problem if you lower the passenger rear seat back and bang on the back of the seat. Then hold the head rest tightly against the seat and bang again. They had to replace the rail. It is quiet now.

Re: Noise in rear passenger area?

Has anyone resolved the clunking/rattle like noise in the rear of the vehicle while driving over manhole covers or slight humps in the road? The noise is on the right side of my vehicle. My dealer did not think the noise is from the rear door. They say that was a problem on the SRX. I'm still not convinced the dealer is correct, but my noise does sound like it's from the trunk area or the right rear suspension.

Re: Noise in rear passenger area?

Just started noticing this sound in mine last week. I have ~950 miles on it.

It's in the rear, happens when you hit harsh bumps in the road and the best I can describe it is as a harsh metallic klunk or what it sounds like when you'd flex a big piece of sheet metal - like when it pops in or out.

If anyone else gets it eliminated, PLEASE POST!

Mine was a noise inside the seat back of the rear passenger seat. It was the head rest rail inside the seat back that was making the noise. Check it by lowering the passenger seat back and hitting your fist on the back. If it makes the noise, you found it. Take it to the dealer. I don't think you can fix it yourself.

Others have reported a noise coming from the battery or the fuse block which are both located in the trunk on the passenger side behind a panel. Pull off the panel and see if anything is loose in there.

Good luck.

Re: Noise in rear passenger area?

FG3... I have a noise that sounds like the one in your vehicle. I have not resolved it yet after 3 trips to the dealer. Mine is not from the headrest, fuseblock or battery. I have 1300 miles and have had the noise since day 1 - rough roads around here. I'll post here if my dealer comes up with anything. Is your car RWD or FWD, FE2 or FE1?

....also see my thread from yesterday, 4/14 on rear suspension noise.

Did you ever resolve the issue? My 2005 AWD SRX just started having the same issue.

Re: Noise in rear passenger area?

My noise was in right rear passener C pillar area, My dealer adjusted the trunk lid. He said it was not tight enough to the rubber stops. This did fix the main source of noise. Still have a intermitt buzz -- sunroof? FE3, RWD, DI--
16500 miles.
