I drove the car to work, got out, clicked the fob to lock the car. I saw it lock. Then, like a dummy, I walked up to the car, looked in the window and saw the security light turn on and just touched the doorhandle to check it, and walked away.
8 hours later I came back to the car, noticed that the driver's door was open about 1/4" and car was unlocked. I said "Hmmm". Looked inside the car, didn't see anything out of order, got in and drove home.
After thinking about this for a little while, I realized that when I went back towards the car to look through the window, it had automatically unlocked (as designed with the fob).
Fortunately, nobody disturbed anything at the work parking lot (usually no problems anyways). Good thing I wasn't at the mall! I'm going to have to pay attention to this better, or else disable the automatic unlock feature. My wife needs to be aware of this also. (Whew!)
Anyone else have this experience ?

If all the doors are closed it will relock (if you have the keyless system). Thats the way my car works.
Note: I have the keyless system and I don't have to do anything to lock the car....just walk away. The horn sounds & lights flash when the car locks.

it does not unlock until you actually pull on the handle.

That's fine if that is what you want.
I have mine set to do nothing.
But I have checked it from time to time and it does lock after the fob goes out of range. |

Originally Posted by 08CTS did you pull on the handle when you checked it? That would trigger it to open again | Yes. Didn't notice the door had opened cause I didn't expect it (must be a slight delay) and I immediately left to go to my office. Won't happen again !
I assume it might be better to walk away from the car while clicking the lock on the remote?
I don't want the doors to lock automatically when I close them, since the car stays in my garage unlocked. |

automatic (delayed) lock and the horn/light lock/unlock feedback are all independent settings. |

I like having the fob in my pocket and not having to click buttons or anything. The first week I was paranoid that it wasn't locking. I am still getting use to that. I hear the horn beep and relax. I am not sure if my lights flash though, will have to check never really noticed. Another thing I noticed happening to me a few times to me with the keyless system, is when I get out of the drivers side door and close it and need to get something in the backseat, that door (backseat) is locked and I have to open the drivers door so the back door will unlock. (sorry about that sentence). Same thing happens with the passenger side as well. Any of you guys have that problem or is it something I am doing wrong, or a setting that I need to change? It's not that serious, just find it weird when it happens and a little embarrassing if people are around lol.
Also do you guys keep your regular keys attached (house keys, keychain, etc) on the fob? I personally don't because I like the clean look of the fob. Just curious lol. |

Just curious lol. | From page 3-75 of the 2008 Cadillac Owners Manual: All Doors (default): All doors will automatically unlock when you approach the vehicle with the keyless access transmitter and open the driver or front passenger door.
I found this out because I needed to open the back door to put a child in first and it was still locked until I opened the front door. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
