NAV - No Digital Clock?

Remove this ad
I've discovered possibly my first gripe (besides Bluetooth being absent). There seems to be absolutely no way to display the digial clock on the main display (in place of the temperature tab perhaps?). The only place I can find it is by hitting the Config button, but that isn't a way to just see the time. Am I wrong? Is there a way to replace the small temperature tab with the clock?

Yes, I know the analog clock is right below it but I have been corrupted and spoiled by our current "now now now" society.

Re: NAV - No Digital Clock?

I don't think there is a way to do this.
Odd isn't it?
Along the lines ofd the "featureless" NAV (My most favorite negative of the car (Unless it is the pathetic Seat Memory)) is the fact that it has to also be the only NAV on the planet that doesn't show speed.
Traditionally the speed, as tracked by triangulated satellite, is the most accurate speedometer available.

Re: NAV - No Digital Clock?

Hmm, I never noticed that one. My 300c doesn't show speed on the NAV either. Atleast, I don't think. I'll have to look next time I drive it.

My analog clock shows the time "now now now" Maybe you can get yours fixed?

Re: NAV - No Digital Clock?

For most people I assume it is quicker to see the numbers of a digital clock than to read an analog clock.

Here's a really "digital" clock:

How quickly can you read it? Hint: Think binary.

Correct. 10:48 and 36 seconds.

I have one on my desk at work, and most people around here don't get it (and they are IT people). Nobody works with bits anymore.

according to the owners manual the CTS nav system uses the vehicle speed as reported by the wheel sensors to figure out fast it is moving.
the car's speedo display is the assumed accurate one in this case.

Re: NAV - No Digital Clock?

Guess that is what you get when you buy a GPS from a Head Unit Manufacturer. (Alpine)
Odd choices, but built to a price I am sure.

Re: NAV - No Digital Clock?

I've never seen a factory nav that shows speed - only aftermarket units. And I'm pretty good at reading the analog clock - one of the advantages to being an old dude.

Re: NAV - No Digital Clock?

I think the analog clock adds a "classic touch" to the car also ...
