Re: How often r u changing the oil in DI?

I'm planning on changing around 5K...I'm not even at 3K yet after owning the car exactly 3 months.

Re: How often r u changing the oil in DI?

I did my first change at 3500 mi. From now on, I will be changing it when the DIC tells me to (roughly 12K to 15K mi), or once a year. Whichever comes first.

Re: How often r u changing the oil in DI?

I am changing mine when I get down to 5-10% on the DIC. I have 4000 miles and am at 62% left. Looks like at about every 10,000 miles for me.

Re: How often r u changing the oil in DI?

I'm on a lease, so I change when the DIC tells me to. I feel like I'm just borrowing these cars.

Same here. I might not even do yearly if the DIC says there's life remaining on the oil

at least once a year is required in the manual.
however I am on pace to exceed the typical oil life within a year.

It is possible that, if you
are driving under the best conditions, the oil life
system might not indicate that an oil change is
necessary for over a year. However, the engine oil and
filter must be changed at least once a year...
Just thought I'd mention it on here to clear things up.

this question when asked in prior threads garnered responses from 3000 to 5000 to wait til the DIC tells you. there is also the specific issue of the initial oil change w.r.t. engine break-in. if you are uncomfortable using the factory oil for 12,000+ miles then you can and maybe should do the first oil & filter change in the 1k-3k window. I took a middle position, I just changed the filter element at 4k and at that time it took about a half pint of Mobil-1 to top it up. the filter looks clean so I am not worried about junk floating around in the sump.
remember to reset the oil life when you change oil.
my $0.02.

Re: How often r u changing the oil in DI?

First time at around 5K, I used to change my 2005 3.6L CTS atround every 7500 miles about 25% left. I'm leasing too, but never know if circumstances will change and I might buy out the lease at the end (especially if my budget doesn't work for a CTS-V in fall of 2010). I'm a believer in what goes around comes around - probably will change along the same lines as my old CTS. My lease is 18,000 miles per year, since I'm doing my own changes that is only 6 more changes over the next 2 1/2 years at half the price the dealer charges.

Re: How often r u changing the oil in DI?

BTW,
does the DIC oil life reset by just holding down the check mark button?
